I just had the belt replaced on my Stelvio QV at 40k miles at Alfa/Maserati in Austin. $2700 without the oil change.

They did a good job overall, though they did not fully bleed the cooling system. The reservoir level was good when I picked it up and quite low when I got home, I can see how this could happen as the cooling system has many places air could get trapped so it needs time to get the air out. They also replaced the radiator, the PCV valve, a leaking turbo oil line, and leaking heater return hose, all under warranty.

Old belt looks fine, I think they can easily go 60K miles.

Oil change $400
Brake flush $230
Belt: $1900

21,000 on odo, had it exactly 4 years.

I know it is insane but this dealer does very good work. It's a big job, so yeah, I paid way too much for the belt but I am happy and their service is and communication is wonderful.

I got a FREE car wash!

People in my area won't work on this car. This is Chevy and Buick country. I tried to get tires put on at a local chain and they refused to do it...
That oil change is nearly 3x as much a my 86 911 Turbo which takes nearly 15qts.......

And brake fluid will last well over 60k and even then it wouldn't need to be a 'flush'. Sorry, but you are getting completely fleeced by the dealer. The '40k' belt service which is the big one includes all those thing plus coolant costs 2k.

I get living in a 'domestic' region but you may want to think of doing things yourself.

I had my second oil change at three years and about 7000 miles. The dealer padded it somewhat with things like gas treatment, oil treatment, engine treatment, and cabin air refreshener (after I specifically asked for no fragrance) air cabin filter replacement, and I think brake fluid flush, treating it as a three-year service even though it was my second oil change, with low mileage. Now it's over four years, about 15 months and 3000 miles since the last servicing, and I'm out of warranty, but it will be mine third oil change. I will have to prevent them from doing those things again or other things that it doesn't need with such low mileage.

Having worked for Range Rover, BMW, and Jaguar I can tell you that's how service depts. make their money. Alfa and other "high end" brands are no different and, in some ways maybe even worse. They push for "recommended" things that do not need to be performed and over charge for them as well. I will also tell you these service departments are a separate business entity from sales and have performance metric goals also. If it was not for service dept revenue most dealerships would be out of business. If you do not specify what service you want done (mainly keeping warranty valid) they will ring that cash register bell all day.

I know, and they say that's their package and they're already giving me a 25% discount, or something like that. When I asked about specific expert treatments that I didn't need or want they said it's part of the package. Next time I go back I will specify exactly what I want and don't want, especially since is out of warranty, and if they can't do a la cart, I'll take it elsewhere.

Really recommend you look into an extended warranty. See: Choose your plan – Jeep Factory Warranty MOPAR warranty covers Alfa

I can look at it, but I just checked because my insurance company is asking for verification of my mileage, and I have 10,496 miles and only drove about 1400 miles in the last 12 months. From some other discussions it seems there's a good deal the extended warranties don't cover--my factory warranty expired mid-November of last year.

Yeah every other year in MO. I welcome it. So many hoopties on the road. Cali never did and Cali had some of the jankiest cars ive even seen from bald tires with metal sticking out.
I know that they used to have a very stringent car inspection in New Jersey, I think twice a year if I recall, but that was a long time ago. They would even drive your car onto a platform with an area for each wheel and apply the brakes to test them. In Florida they don't even bother with inspections, and my biggest problem with cars is misaligned headlights that can blind you, followed by polluting automobiles, although the latter is less of a problem than it used to be.

New Jersey's current inspection is an emissions check every 2 years. It's done by connecting to the OBD port to verify the various readiness sensors. No more sniffing the tailpipe. New cars are exempt for 5 years.

That's it, just emissions check every two years for older cars? I'm pretty sure the years to do it twice a year--we're talking about from the 1960s through the at least mid 80s. They would measure headlight beam height, brakes, as I mentioned, emissions, I guess all sorts of other factors. I think they were in cahoots with service shops. As cars became more reliable I guess they didn't need to do most that.

Don't see what insurance co. wanting mileage verification has to do with extended warranty? I have my Alfa on regular policy, but my Boss 302 on Grundy and even they don't require milage verification.

It doesn't have to do with an extended warranty, but don't they base the price of a warranty on your mileage or something? This is the first time my insurance company has asked me to fill out a form--they don't require verification just my affirmation of the mileage. Previously I just did it over the phone. When I asked why they're doing this he said it's a new policy because there are a lot of people claiming much lower mileage than they actually do. Luckily I checked with them because 10 days ago I filled out a form from an email link they sent, but apparently it's not in their system, so he sent me a PDF with another form where I have to fill in more information manually, and I pasted in a copy of my signature. He's also sent me a paper copy, which I will send also probably--it's a pain in the neck.

This belt service is like people who change synthetic oil every 3,000 miles. Times have changed with technology.
