One of my front parking sensors (the ones on the grill) fell in few days ago. I was on my way to work, driving on freeway right after I got off freeway ramp, the parksense started going crazy, I was pretty sure there was nothing in front of me so I turned it off. After I parked, look at the front and noticed the sensor had fallen inside the grill.

It's quite strange, the sensor was not damaged at all, and I am pretty positive I did not hit anything. I guess the front housing just decided to come loose. Wondering if this had happened to anyone else here.

Forgive me on the dirty Giulia, it rained few days ago.. She has now been cleaned.

Lower Left: Broken sensor when I tried to put it back in it's original place, it wont' stay because the front housing is gone.
Lower Right: The intact sensor on the opposite side.

It looks like some kind of plastic retainer broke and fell off. Perhaps you hit a rock or bird? Maybe it was not properly assembled (let's go with that, so you can get it repaired under warranty)? At least it appears that the sensor can be moved if desired; something I have thought about regarding putting the front license plate over the lower right grill.

Yes, it can be moved around a bit but not far from the original position.

I went to the dealership today and showed them what happened, its under warranty, replacement is on order.

For the license plate mount it doesn't need to move very far, just enough to ensure that a plate held a little bit off of the grill and up against the edge of the vent opening does not interfere with the sensor; I think diagonally by 1 "cell" should be enough.

I have the plate mount form Alfa 9 and I have zero issues with the OEM placement of the parking sensors. I would be concerned of moving it as if there is issues later the dealer could cry foul. Not to mention unless you move both in the grill to make them look symmetric it will look a little odd. Just my 2 pennies worth.

Cheers

Reviving an old thread. This just happened to me on the way home. Was it fairly easy to get it covered under warranty? Also to those in southern california, this would be the first time having to take my vehicle in for a service. Any dealership you guys would recommend ?

You should not have any problem getting that covered under warranty. As long as it didn’t look like there is damage to the rest of the bumper. If the dealership gives you any headache then call Alfa Premium Care off the Alfa USA website. They have run interference for me but you shouldn’t have any problems with your dealership. Sounds like a warranty repair

The same thing happen to me in northern California. Took it to the dealer and they said the part is in backorder and does not know how long will it take. They have another customer that is also waiting for that part since Nov. Does anyone know where I can purchase that bracket?

I had this about 2 years ago. While waiting for the plastic retainer, I just cable tied the sensor using 2 small black ties onto to the grille to stop pasksense from going crazy. It worked fine until they fixed it.
