Going a little nuts trying to figure this out. It keeps coming back up after clearing it. I thought I was able to recreate the issue but now it's coming up at idle.

I drove around with the live view feature on my scanner and didn't see any signal drops or fluctuation in the charge temp which would point to a loose sensor connection or bad sensor. I went over and pushed in and wiggled every sensor I could reach under the hood as well.

Trying to avoid a trip to the dealer as the car has a few mods done to it.

Anyone else come across this?

I've attached photos of the freeze frame that set off the CEL this last time.

Clearing a fault code if there is a real problem does not solve the problem of course ;)

fault code P00E1 : Charge Air Cooler Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit High

Is the coolant level of the intercooler ok ?
there was also a service bulletin covering possible loss of coolant :

NUMBER: 0900517
REV. B
GROUP: 09 Engine
DATE: August 22, 2017

SUBJECT: 2.0L Coolant Hose ORing Replacement

OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves replacing the O-ring on the turbocharger coolant return hose.

MODELS: 2017 (GA) Alfa Romeo Giulia

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: NAFTA.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before January 13, 2017 (MDH 0113XX)
equipped with a 2.0L 280HP I4 DI Turbo Engine (Sales Code EC2).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may experience a small coolant leak from the O-ring seal of the turbocharger coolant
return hose.

DIAGNOSIS:
If a customer’s VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. If any vehicle not on the
VIN list exhibits the symptom/condition, perform the repair.
Incorrect slightly leaky O-ring on left, correct O-ring on right with more girth.

Thanks for the obvious point ;) Levels are on point, no leaks and temp reading on the scanner seems good. Car definitely didn't fall into the VIN range unless I just had lazy techs on my last service (about a month ago).

Going to just bite the bullet and bring her in. I've been trying to find an engine diagram online or a part number for the intercooler temp sensor but can't find anything. Unless someone can point me towards the exact sensor affected by this code and the healthy resistance reading. Perks of having a car that's brand spanking new car!

If anyone wants more information on the IC temp sensor, I picked up a subscription on Tech Authority OnLine and can send you the PDF

Took the car to the dealership and they admitted that Alfa has had some issues with wiring paths and connections. They extended the wiring and repinned the connector all within the same day.

The guys at Fullerton Alfa Romeo in Somerville, NJ really went the extra mile. I advised them not to reflash my ECU (I'm tuned) and they didn't give me any grief at all.

Car is back in action for now :D

Where is this connector in the engine bay? I am getting an intermittent P00E1 code, it hangs around a while then goes away...there is no rhyme nor reason to it's appearance. Also where is the o-ring located? I don't have a dealer to take the car into but there's a great independent if I can tell him where the problems are!

I have P00E1 code and it has disabled my DNA modes to N. It has also disabled the remote start. I’m not getting any service appointments within the next 20 days and was wondering if it is safe to make long trips on this code and CEL turned on due to it.

Please advise.

Thank you!
