Been in my 17 Giulia TI for about 10 days now and I ABSOLUTELY love it. Odd question: The cupholders and area under the center console get pretty warm to the touch. Anyone else notice this? Just trying to figure out if this is normal or I should bring it in. Thanks!

I don't have a TI, but my QV does not do this ......The center console area really doesn't even get very warm, much less hot ...... It sounds like something is not right here .....

Scheduled for service on Thursday morning. On the way into work today things were running fine. I tried turning the climate control to it's lowest setting and turned the A/C on. Cold air came out of the front ducts, but warm air still out of the rear. Immediately, i felt the area under the cupholders start to get warm.

Is there way to register the issue with Alfa Care prior to going in for service? Just trying to get ahead of things as much as possible. Thanks everyone for the help!

That other guy might have been me. I had an overheating tunnel console due to a faulty heater box. If that is your problem, you are in for a treat as the dash has to come out to replace the box, and the boxes are hard to find in the U.S. Here are a few pointers for you:

1) Check if your rear vents are pushing heat out. If so, and no A/C, than you are pretty much set for a heater box replacement
2) Check the manufacturer date of your car. Mine was built in April, and I have read threads that other people with the same issue had cars from around that same time
3) Contact Alfa Care. Sometimes they actually approach you here on the forum when you have problems. I am still having issues due to that problem, but Andrea from AR Care has been very informative and helpful. Kudos to her!
4) If the heater box is the issue, be prepared to give up the car for a few days/weeks. It might depend on the dealership, but I lost my car for a month to get this fixed. Now it is back because the dealership goofed with the dash installation
5) Be certain to get this checked out. The tunnel has important modules that you don't want to get overheated

Hope that helps. Good luck.

Didn't see this reply from you, but you have the same issue as I did. A/C fine in the front, no cold air from the rear vents and overheating tunnel, especially right by the seat.

I had a piece of insulation drop off of our QV.

It was a roundish piece that covers the hole where the manual shifter would go on cars with manuals. The dealer was amused but didn't feel it was necessary to replace it, or know how to do so. It looked like it was originally held on with hobby glue.

I can imagine that piece being missing could allow more heat to transfer up into the center console from the exhaust?

Update: at the dealer. After a full day of diagnosis they are going to order the heater box and get me back in once it arrives.

Yup, figured as much. Good luck with the installation, as they will have to remove the dash to get to it. Let me know how long it took for them to fix it.

Update: Part came in and I dropped the car off yesterday. Original estimate was 1.5 days. Got a call today that it's going to be another 1.5 days. No loaner at this dealer so they put me in a rental. Dodge Grand Caravan :( At least Giulia is not out in the snow this weekend.

Well...still at the dealer. They keep calling me to tell me that "It will be ready tomorrow". It's been there since last Thursday so far. Let's see if tomorrow is the day...

Today NOT THE DAY. Just got a call saying that the Heater box did not ship with the "seals on it" so they are overnighting the seals which continues to push me off. How would they just have noticed that today after having the car and the part since last Thursday???? Beyond frustrating.

Well - I'm not sure anyone is still following this thread but I figured I'd update anyway. Got the car back finally yesterday, after a full 3 weeks at the dealer. everything seems to be ok EXCEPT...the engine start/stop is no longer working?????

Is dependant on a lot of inputs.... One of the most common is low battery voltage.... They probably did not fully charge it before returning the car ?
Should sort itsself after driving a bit.
