Drove back home as usual, bored with Monday heavy traffic I flip thru sat channels with some of the rough music. Then I muted the radio and flip to the navi screen, it was grey out. Not like sometimes the brief green 'thinking' screen. It was grey and stayed solid grey just like the color of my car. I turned off the whole thing and turned on again, no luck. I flip thru the menu and the 'navigation' entry also grey out :surprise: I wasn't freak out but I can't say the same thing if my wife were driving the car. Time for dealer visit bcs Giulia miss her brothers and sisters?

I will have to say that is a knew issue that I have not yet seen reported on here.

Hope things work out with the trip to the dealer.

Thank you both. This morning I remote started the car, got in and Wala - the navi is there ! appreciated this peekaboo just don't to it too often :)

After thoughts, since modern cars controlled by bunch of computers, it needs reboot.

This exact thing happened to me this morning, it was working until I dropped my child at school this morning and then the gray screen, no maps. Any navigation option in menus is also grey. Hopefully it will sort itself out after being off for a while. This is the first morning of freezing weather since I've been driving it, could this be related to the cold?

Edit: I forgot to mention I have the most recent software update for infotainment.

Sounds like a case of Russian GPS hacking.

And no, I’m not serious, so no sympathetic Russophobic PMs, please.

Hi Johnm,

We're sorry this has happened! If your navigation doesn't return to normal and you end up visiting a dealer for diagnosis, please private message us so we can assist and ensure this is addressed.

Mine did that yesterday - probably the 5th time. You gotta let the car sit for like 10 minutes off. A brief restart of the car won't do it.

Yup a brief restart of the engine won't do it. Like the reconnecting bluetooth issue, the infotainment unit appears to not shut down fully immediately. The nav blanking out only happened to me once so far. Turned the car off. Opened and closed the door, and locked the car and waited a minute. Was okay after that.

Last Friday, same for me - never before then though.

I had the additional symptoms of having my radio reboot while playing music from a USB stick. Did it every 5-7 mins for my 30 minute drive.

Yesterday I had my ECU catalytic recall update performed, and asked them to install this RRT, which contained the radio reboot and loss of phone Favorites symptoms, which I’ve been experiencing:

http://home.planet.nl/~jwq/giulia/last nav update 2018.pdf

Keep in mind THIS IS ONLY FOR PRE 30JUN17 GIULIAS FOR NAFTA MARKET.

I’ll keep you posted on any recurrence on No Nav, and if the fix fixed my two symptoms.

BTW, a couple of asides from my visit: 1) I didn’t have a functioning “turn off” for the HK audio system, which takes a long depress on the console volume knob. Mine just went back and forth to mute. When I picked up the car yesterday, the display was blank, and I had to ask the Service Mgr to “fix the bricked Infotainment system”, which he did by “turning it on” with the (now working) long press. Doh!! 2) The central display now looks like a 2018, with changes to layout (Blue MPG indicator is now left to right, larger fonts on Audio tracks, fuel indicator in lower right with graphics, trip A/B format changes, etc.). The SM said he had 3 updates to BCM, one of which is contained in the RRT above. Thanks Steve, you rock! 3) They did a temp fix on my front facia, which will probably requre a more extensive repair later (another thread).

Best to all,
