Hi,

Heavy wet snow here in Atlanta last Friday. When I decided to head home from work I started the Giulia with the remote and, when I got there, wasn't able to open the trunk. Got inside and found a random list of warnings and things not working-- among them: wipers didn't work, turn signals didn't work, CEL on, driving mode locked to 'N', headlight switch unresponsive (though auto-on lights did work), warnings about DRL but they looked ok to me, etc.

I decided to limp home even without wipers and turn signals (stupid, I know). Checked the car again over the weekend (garaged overnight) and signals, wipers, etc., all working again but CEL was still on (with the mode locked). And now this morning the CEL has gone off and everything seems to be working ok.

Skimming through the forums I haven't seen quite this type of problem. Is this familiar to anyone?

It wasn't ridiculously cold, nor was the temp that different from Friday through Monday morning. Thinking it might be a leak shorting out something, I took it to a car wash bay and sprayed it down for a few minutes but that didn't seem to effect anything.

It's a MY18 Ti and I've only had it a week.

Thanks for any input!

perhaps the battery is weak (sat on boats, at dealer too long) and the cold put it closer to the edge than the systems and "intelligent battery sensor" wanted to see.
I have read of a similar situation - not identical - situation.

If you auto start many things (like wipers) are disabled. You need to press the Start button when you enter the car to enable all functionality. I'm sure there is safety/security logic to all this.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. But I've put 200+ miles on it since purchase and my commute is ~20 highway miles, so I would think it would be charged up. And wouldn't you expect there to be more of a problem starting if the battery was weak? It started right up, multiple times-- I tried restarting a few times to see if things would start working.

That confused me for a second, but there was a message on the screen to hit the button. The issues persisted after that.

Thanks for the thoughts.

I had this exact same thing happen to me over the weekend, one day after purchasing the vehicle (2018 Giulia TI Q4). I drove it moderately for a bit then parked the car. Came back 15 minutes later and started the vehicle with the remote. Many warning lights started coming on:

-Service Engine soon
-Turn signals
-Auto Start/Stop (fine with this not working...)
-Fuel level

Also, the following were not working at all
-Turn signals
-All windows except driver's
-Air Conditioning

Brought it to the dealer the next day. They checked for codes and "only had stored codes for low voltage."

Working now. However, my backup camera failed to come on once yesterday....

I don't think moving the transmission from park without pressing the start button is possible. So all or nothing?

Just got back from the dealer. The only thing he found was a logged code related to the ambient temperature sensors. He's guessing that during the snowstorm something tripped them up and that confused the systems causing things to shut down. So basically, "huh, strange, if it happens again call me". I don't really see the connection between temperature sensor and turn signals but, oh well.

I didn't really expect anything different, but it was worth a try.

Is it possible that the outside temperature sensor and all of the things that failed on your car are processed by one computer? If so this may be a symptom of a problem with the computer, or a loose connection on anything that is connected to the computer.

There are 2 reports on the forum of body control module (BCM) failures that I recollect.

i have got the exact same thing yesterday. Driving for 20 min with no problems, Going to grocery store, for 15min, returning back, open the door, start the engine and all described above happened. Drove home, engine off overnight and now I will go try again. I will bring it to the dealer to read the codes.

My car just got towed to the dealer today, while driving exterior lights started to flicker then went out. Along with warnings for turn signals, brake lights and DRL. Checking fuses I found water on fuse box under the dash.

Do you have pictures to share? How did water get into the fuse box? Are we talking about the underhood fuse box or the one in the trunk compartment?
