What interface does everyone use?
For MES use, an OBDLink SX USB. $30 on amazon.

Make sure you're reading through the MES user manual, it goes over setting up the COM port settings and selecting the proper device in MES. (LINK)
Do you have the colored adapter cables?
Yes, I do have them. But I don't need to connect with the colored adapter cables when first connecting to the software right?

depends on which ecu you're trying to connect to. On the MES site you can see what's needed, see :
(A5=blue, A6=gray)

yes, bodycomputer access would be without adapters, just the interface

I have not bought MES yet, but do they also need a SGW bypass for it to connect
without an error if the car was built late 2018 or newer?

Very probable.....
If you get mes and connect, it will flag if there is a SGW present

Hi, Alex from Italy here.
I also got an USA key and activated the Remote start (byte 108 from 06 to 07).
Did you have got which is the setting to get the Panic mode active?
Maybe comparing the proxy settings may help...

80 should do the trick. A0 enables panic but disables front wipers after-wipe function.
0xxxxxxx - panic disabled
1xxxxxxx - panic enabled
xx0xxxxx - after-wipe enabled
xx1xxxxx - after wipe disabled
