Hey guys,

I've tried to search the forums and Google without any luck, so if you know this question has been asked and answered before please let me know.

One issue I've come across is that when I start the car and the side mirrors fold back out, the mirrors do not return to the last set position.
I have tried saving the same position on all memory slots but I still have to press one of the memory buttons to get my mirrors back to where I need them to be.
Perhaps I'm missing something.

Any thoughts on how I can fix this issue?

The mirror adjustment should not change when they fold in and out. However, it is possible that a mirror is not folding out properly or consistently. Some forum members reported problems with the mirrors not folding all the way out last year and that it was possible to give the mirrors a bit of a push to get them all the way out.

I do not recollect a resolution. I would think that this is a warranty item that your dealer should take care of. Baring that, some silicone spray lube on the hinge might be a good idea. It is worth noting that the mirror cap is simply snapped on and can be removed easily enough possibly gain access to the top of the hinge.

Personally I would prefer that the mirrors not have this overly complex electric folding feature. It is one more thing to break, provides no functionality that I need, and negates the push to fold feature that actually saves mirrors from being damaged by too close pedestrians. On Giulia the mirrors don't even fold in very far. It impresses me as a "coolness factor" feature rather than something that is truly useful. YMMV.

My pickup truck has trailer mirrors that slide in and out. This sliding mechanism is behind the mirror and because there is no seal around the mirror (I don't think there is a seal around Giulia's mirrors either) the sliding mechanism is exposed to a lot of dirt. The slide has to be a tight fit in order to prevent excessive mirror vibration. As a result it gums up regularly and stops working. I don't know if something similar could be happening in Giulia's mirrors, but it would not surprise me if it was.

Once in a blue moon I'll get this, try pressing the # memory again. If this doesn't work, resetting all 3 positions by setting them all to a new position and then back to what you want should do the trick. As an overkill, you can remove the battery terminal and go for a walk (DO NOT CLOSE THE TRUNK).

Disconnecting the battery is a very bad idea. All the computers (there are a lot of them) that control the car get upset. In general, simply restarting the car will re-boot and cure a wide range of inconsistencies.

As with any persistent problem, let the dealer and your new car warranty take care of it.

I have this issue every single time I turn off the car more than a few minutes. The mirrors go to a default position.

When I start the car, I have to wait about 15 seconds for the mirrors to fold back out. Once they're out, I can press one of the memory buttons to get them to where I want them.

I might just disable the folding mirrors and see if that helps.

This has happened a few times with mine recently. I merely have to hit the memory button a second time and they go into the proper pre-set position.

This is the same issue I'm having and I don't think the dealer has figured out a solution - has anyone found a solution to this?

Looks like I'm part of this club now. I just picked up the car last Friday, everything has been good but this was the first issue I noticed. I made a service appointment for next Friday and will follow up.

so far, i haven't had any luck figuring out this yet.
if you start the car normally, there is delay in mirrors folding out.

i use remote start now regularly as that folds mirror out instantly and i only have to press memory button upon pressing start/stop button.

That's been my solution as well but it definitely isn't work as intended. I'm wondering if it's hardware or software related.

I had responded to a similar thread but I got this resolved through service. If anyone needs a reference:

I contacted my dealer and they mentioned some other Giulias they've sold about the same time as mine had similar problems and that they needed to replace some wires in order to make it work correctly.
So I need to take it to the dealer soon and have the wires replaced, but they said first they need to record the problem on my car, send the video to FCA in order to get the correct wires :|

i had dealer initially test out mirror itself by swapping good working mirror from another car and then moved to find out mirror modules in the door was junk.
had them order which took 3 days and replaced, working like intended ever since now.

Took my Giulia to the dealer for an oil change today and this issue has finally been come an official Service Bulletin. So no more lengthy diagnosis required, just describe the problem.

Thank you, I had it fixed at the dealer and it's working perfect now.
Earlier it would take 15-20 seconds for the mirrors fold back out to a default position but now it takes 2 seconds and they go to my memory position :smile2:

I never had this problem with the mirrors, but I usually lock the car from the inside of the door to prevent them from folding. My seat however sometimes doesn't seem to come forward to the preset position. I only think this because I sometimes feel it is too far back, more than I would have initially set the memory to. I just move it forward and reset the memory position when it does that, but I would love to be able to turn off the easy access feature. I thought it was cool at first but now I think it is mostly unnecessary.

Just learned there is a mirror switch recall, should make correction easy enough for everyone. Dealer is ordering a replacement switch, although I have not experienced the problem (yet). Was in for a State Inspection and they pulled this up.
