Does anyone know what the latest maps version for the U.S. / North America is? I can't get an answer from my dealer, Alfa Romeo Premium Care or FCA customer service.

The dealer simply tells me "there's no update to the version you have," but he can't say what the latest release is. My dealer having given me incorrect information before (though they do try to assist in good faith), I want to independently verify the version.

I have PM'd AlfaRomeoCares, but so far, no response.

In this day and age, one would think it would be a simple matter to check what the latest revision number and let the customer know!

Any help or information would be appreciated!

In that case, I have 002.009.043, but I think that's the entertainment system version, isn't it?

If that included a maps update, the maps are is really old! Roads in Los Angeles and parts of Arizona built or changed in late 2014 aren't there! Even changes in El Paso constructed in 2015 aren't showing up!

Oh well, guess I'll be using my phone for updated maps and traffic!

Not a big deal, but I wish I could get this information from Alfa in response to my inquiries.

The latest map version from Alfa is 971.7832.

According to TomTom, their current map is 990.xxx available in May 2017.
Version 970.xxx was released over a year ago.

Here in CT, I have the same experience as you in the West re outdated streets.

I've complained to AlfaCares several times on the phone and on this forum.
Alfa seems to have no interest in providing updates at this time.

+1 above..... Agree 110% I have also called and complained both to the dealer and Alfa. A paper map is more accurate than this Nav unit. You can read all my posts I'm pretty positive about all aspects of this car and absolutely have had zero issues so far. However this very outdated Nav unit with NO traffic updates and etc is unacceptable! Especially with NO Car Play or Android Auto.

Yes, the nav unit brings the whole experience of the car down for me. It's pretty but the UX is so unpolished it makes for a bad time.

Example, the voice input on the destination is wrong 100% of the time. It always navigates to the other side of town. But, using the rotary knob is so slow there is no reason to try and use the thing. I know there is a fix for this stuff but I'm not allowed to have it.

I hope Alfa Romeo remembers us early adopters in the U.S. when they develop an update to the navigation system's map data and an upgrade to its user interface for future vehicles.

Complimentary map data for a couple of years (like Volvo provided me) and an update to the navigation system's user interface at no cost to 2017 model year owners would sure go a long way!! :)

The navigation system and the quality of the Harman Kardon audio are the only two design issues I have with the car. Don't get me wrong: I love my Giulia, especially how looks, and I missed it a lot when it was on the shop recently, but before I would upgrade to a Quad in the future, something I'm considering, I am going to make sure these two issues have been addressed. With technology being where it is, I'm very hopeful!!

Greetings and thank you! I look forward to reading your reply.

While you are looking into this, could you please look into how we in the United States activate the traffic information in the navigation system?

Traffic information is mentioned in some detail in the owner's manual I was given (2017 Q4, HK system). I have the feature turned on in the system, but so far, I have seen no traffic information in whilst driving in Los Angeles, the Phoenix, Arizona area, or El Paso, Texas.

Several of us on this forum have this same question!

Thanks for any information you can offer, and for your time.

P.S. I picked up my car from the dealer last Friday and have been told the system is up to date, as additional information.

new map version 9.96 (quite fresh one, seems like released AUG8) shown up in maps.mopar.eu for me (I am 90% sure this is the newest TomTom map not only for Giulia, on my dedicated go510 with lifetime updates I have 995, this one is dedicated for trucks ;)). All my Polish colleagues also received this update, so please check your mopar accounts.

1. Update takes approximately 70 mins
2. it requires 16GB usb stick
3. USB has to be formatted NTFS
4. You can update during the trip (car needs to stop still just to initiate the update)
5. Keeping engine ON is recommended

US version may significally differ, please mind I updated European one :)

Might be some difference in the launch time from market to market and even their ability to push the update to owners in the same market. Sort of like what happens to phones, heard of this happening with other cars.

US doesn't allow the Mopar self service stuff for some strange reason.

Was the Mopar portal open on day 1 of the European Giulia launch?

not sure - it's been up since I owned Giulia (in August) but never contained anything useful until today.
Strange that American market, which actually decides whether some car manufacturer dies or lives, does not get instant updates :/
apologies then, didn't expect my "cutting edge news" will be so useless for you guys :)

I called Alfa Care, asking if we get free map updates and for how long (most cars with Nav get some free updates, my ex car 2014 Mazda3 had 3 years free updates). Opened a case and would get back to me.
This is what they sent,

"Dear Customer:

Case #: xxxxxxxx

Navigation Roadway Map Updates Answer ID 18971 | Published 09/24/2010 05:28 PM | Updated 02/27/2017 05:24 AM Where can I get information on replacing/updating a navigation system roadway/map discs? Roadway map update discs for FCA US vehicle navigation systems (including those with Garmin navigation) are available for direct purchase on the HERE web site: allthingsnav.navigation.com. If the customer's correct model/year/radio is not listed on the web site, user can register on the www.navigation.com web site to receive notification when updates for their model/year/radio are available. How does a customer contact and/or report incorrect or missing map information? HERE is interested in feedback from our customers through their Map Reporting program. Customers can share their input by visiting mapreporter.navteq.com. Users will have to register to provide and track the status of their feedback. Customers can also contact www.here.com directly at or contact Navteq directly at 1-866-462-8837, Monday thru Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm Central Time".

Alfa is not listed on the website and no disc drive to use a disc, I called the listed website and they said no Alfa maps.

I think Alfa care is Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat etc, depending on which number you call. This is not the first time or the second that they don't know what they are talking about. VERY frustrating!

the very important and mandatory thing is that the car must be on, engine on, non only dash.
if you drive with the upgrade in progress no problem, no connections, non data stream, no connectivity need.
Tomorrow I'll do the upgrade on my Italian Stelvio, I'll keep you informed

I am sure, you don't even need to block anything like BT or radio - it's suspended. I started it 30 mins before I left work and continued during my way back home.
Moreover the engine also must not to be switched ON, because while updating, device does not shuts down after 20 mins (like it does normally). Just it is bit risky to keep unit ON for 1-2 hours.
