If you have a Nandi heads up display hooked into your obd2 port you can get constant lateral g meter reading in any mode. Super fun game while driving....
The problem with the stock lateral G meter is that any time you are generating enough Gs to be worth noting, you really should be watching the road and not the gauges. I've had the same complaint about this gadget in the 4C as well. If it had a memory function that would be a lot safer to check peak Gs after you were done generating them.

I guess a heads up display would solve that issue, in which case it would be fun.
