I've searched around but couldn't find an answer: does anyone use an iPod plugged into the glove box USB and experience the car not always detecting it? Sometimes I get in and it's on right away, other times I drive an hour without the infotainment system ever detecting it.

It may be that the battery is dead. When that happens the car won't detect it.I found that as soon as it gets a charge then the car recognizes it.

Using the original Apple cable, fully charged iPod
What generation iPod? The original etm software works with older gen iPods however the new software, at this time, doesn't recognize older gens. It took a bit to figure out why the customers iPod worked in his loaner, didn't work in his car and my phone worked in both lol.

It's older. Black 160gb from maybe 2006. The weird thing is recognizing it immediately half of the time.

His was the same general time frame, wider connector at the bottom. Didn't recognize at all in newest software, but every time in oldest. Go to settings- software update- current version- .20 is oldest, .41 inter, .43 latest. Maybe if your car is at the inter software that would explain the semi operation?

It has something to do with locking the car. If the iPod is working and I leave my car unlocked in the garage overnight it works when I get back in in the morning. But then when I go to work and lock the car it does not work when I get back in

OK - I will try this too. Kinda strange but if so, then probably just a software adjustment.

My Ipod was working fine for two days using the front USB connection. The connection was quick and responsive. Then one day while I was driving, the car wouldn't let me switch songs. So I decided to restart the car and now the Ipod never gets detected even if I use the one in the armrest. Haven't tried AUX connection ye

Hi Yuri Bykau,

Sorry to hear about this! If you end up deciding to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

Hi, I have an old iPod and it does not work! So sad to see I’m not missing something... and I can’t use the iPod in this car. :(

iPod? Those are dinosaurs and belong in a museum. Put all your music on your iPhone and solve all issues - are you all using flip phones as well :wink2:
