InfoEntertainment Screen goes dark

Has anyone else had their InfoEntertainment screen go dark? It happens to me intermittently. The radio goes off, the settings, etc are unavailable, but the heat/AC stays on whatever it was on before the system went to blackout. Could it be that I need a software update? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,

Rich

thats exactly what it sounds like...when did you get your car? and build date? that will give you an idea as to where you stand...but it sounds like you need them
My infotainment has been horrible lately. Freezes, wont play next track, plays next track but displays previous track info. Volume indicator moves without input and then volume will not increase. I have the most up to date software per dealer. Not sure what is going on. I have had it go blank twice in the last week, appears to be a soft reset.

My Giulia Ti was built in March 2017 and I purchased it in August.

do you know how to check to see what version of software you have??
because these issues were all cleared up with the software updates..
Once in 1500 miles. Restarted car and no problem.

I?ve had similar minor issues in other cars as well...and smartphones...and computers...and TVs...

So far my Giulia has been more reliable than my iPhone 8!
Hmmm, sounds like the behavior of my cell phone. Same base software? Same buggy hardware?

Hello Andrea,

Thanks for contacting me. I am pleased that Alfa Romeo takes customer service so seriously.
I would appreciate it if you would look into my problem. My vin number is:
ZARFAECN9H7543187.
I would probably prefer to have my system checked at Harper in Knoxville. It is more convienient than my selling dealer, Jackson in Morrow, GA. They have been nice to deal with, but the drive through Atlanta can be bad!

Sounds like the soft reset/crashes I used to have. Do you ever get the Infotainment unavailable warning in the center console?

Since the update I get it far less frequently but I do still get it.
Follow-up on InfoEntertainment System

To get my InfoEntertainment System repaired I had lots of attention from Harper Alfa in Knoxville, with continual oversight by AlfaCares. On my first visit, they gave me a loaner car (Stelvio), and after about 3 hours they let me know my software had already been updated. An update would not fix the problem. Harper contacted AlfaCares and the decision was to order a new entire system.

A few days later I got a call that the new system was in, and they scheduled an appointment. Again, I had a loaner, but after 2-3 hours the new system was not booting up. Harper told me to drive the loaner home, and a day later, they delivered my car and picked up the loaner.
It has been a couple of weeks, and everything seems to be working well.

I knew that buying a new model might have some bumps in the road, but the attention I got from AlfaCares was amazing. They called me before my appointments, during my appointments, after my appointments. Truly outstanding customer attention. And, Harper was very attentive and bent over backwards to make me happy!

I am sold on Alfa customer service, and I hope I will not be needing very much of it! So far, after 3000 miles I am very happy with my Ti.

It's no fun to have a major problem like this, but I is great to hear someone report good service. People typically race to post the negative, but don't always spend the time to write it up when they were treated well.
