Has anyone had this happened to them? Suddenly my left headlight is just completely out. There is no indicator on my dash and high beam doesn?t work either.

Flick the Headlight switch to manual mode. Flicker the high-beams on an off several times in a quick succession. If the bulb does not come back to life, it could just be a dud. It happens. Thankfully, all under warranty so just take it to the dealer for replacement.

Do you have any indication on the dash that the light is out? I figure all cars today have this feature.
lot of cars don't have a warning on the headlights, as it's expected you would notice yourself if it's out .... ;)

Hi thechrismason,

Sorry to see this! If you decide to visit your local dealership and would like further assistance please send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

I had the running light fail on my headlight at about 800 miles on the car. It started flickering constantly and the car did show 3 error messages on the dash, one for each light. I have the 35 watt version. They had to replace the entire headlight. No problems since.

There is more to check than just the connection. These are HID lights presumably with a shutter to distinguish low and high beams. There should be no surprise that a bulb out would cause loss of low and high beams since there is only one bulb. HID lights require a sequenced "ballast" to start. This has to produce high voltage to start the bulb and I believe it is more likely to fail than the bulb itself.

One sign of a weak ballast is if the light will ignite if you shine a bright UV intense light (such as a high brightness LED flashlight or direct sunlight) on the light bulb. The ignition voltage decreases when such supplemental light is provided. Of course if the ballast is dead this won't do anything. Electronic ballasts are more likely to fail in hot weather and when required to cycle on-and-off quickly and frequently.

One forum member managed to upgrade the ballast in his lights, so presumably the ballast can be replaced without replacing the entire assembly.

I will be visiting my local dealer this week and let them figure it out because I don?t want to open or mess with anything that will give them the opportunity to blame it on me lol I have tried it using/getting the light to turn on a few different ways with still no luck. I tried in manual mode, flashing the high beam etc etc. there also isn?t any indicator on my dash telling me a light is out. A friend had to tell me it was out, wonder how long it was or would have been out if he never told me lol

Do you know that the headlight ever worked? Isn't it apparent that the headlight is out at night, especially when behind another vehicle or pulling up towards a wall such as when parking inside our outside of a garage? When taking delivery of a new Giulia it is probably worthwhile to check that all of the lights actually work. Along with checking that parking sensors work, the rear view camera works, the tire pressure is right, the brakes don't make funny noises, and probably some other stuff. Maybe a moderator could assemble an editable check list?

The light did work before. I also made sure that when I first got my giulia I checked everything out. My brakes started making a weird sound about 3-400 miles ago (I?m barely under 3K miles) . A checklist would defiantly do handy.

I lost all the right side lights except for the headlight the day after a heavy rainstorm. Dealer said he had seen this happen before. The replacement unit is $3,000, covered of course, but i have to wait 2 to 3 weeks for the unit to come. Alfa had me take photos showing the water in the unit. I can't believe the seals didn't hold. I also can't believe it takes that long to get a part from FCA.
