Just got the ETC and check engine light after picking up the plates from DMV today.
It's a Giulia QV with manufacturing date Apr/2017.
VIN is in the mid 55xxxx and I took delivery on 7/29.
I asked the dealer to put on available SW and FW updates before delivery and they said it's done.

Didn't do any left foot braking ever and it happened after a stop and go right turn w/o harsh acceleration.
Fuel level is nearly full, about ~30 miles of driving after the last fuel up.
Pulled over and tried to restart engine, both ETC and check engine lights were on upon the first restart.
The second time I restarted, ETC light was off and check engine light was still on.
Drove slowly to the local dealership and called Alfa premium care.

After an hour or so, the lady at the service department got back to me saying that they got the codes and have to wait til they hear back from someone up in the chain to tell them what to do.

I was thinking about driving my Giulia for the road trip to Canada next week. Guess this is not going to happen.

So far I've had two "Service Electronic Throttle" warning lights with the associated "Service Engine / Check Engine" Icon illuminating (always steady, never flashing)....In both instances the circumstances were the same as yours...plenty of fuel, no left foot braking, etc....2017 Quad with a March 2017 build date....During both events the only effect on driving was that it stayed in "N" mode....In both instances, the "SET" (Red Lightning Bolt) Icon went away at the third start up (the next day) followed by the "Check Engine" Icon also resetting automatically and all went back to normal.....Car is going in Wed for latest Nav updates....Like your car, my dealer prepped the car prior to delivery with SW and FW updates (or so I am lead to believe).....I have never experienced a stall and I always turn off the "Stop / Start" feature.....Let's see what happens....I think if the Engine Icon is flashing vs Steady, it is a more serious issue.....D

Hi Alfaholico,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was nervous at that point and missed some details.
The warning lights and drive mode response are exactly the way you described.

Called Alfa care this morning to get an update, was told that it has to wait til Monday.
The lack of responsiveness is disappointing.
The greatest disappointment is taking a loaner vehicle that is no where near as fun as driving the quadrifoglio.
The only delight is the look of my wife's face when she got back home seeing a different car in the garage.

The Dealer's WiTech scan immediately shows them the fault codes. Whether or not the tech knows what to do with it is a whole other story.

Here's to a speedy recovery!

Guys, I suggest you have an auto store like AutoZone or Pep Boys read the codes if you can't get to Alfa right away. Or, if you can, get a blue tooth OBD2 reader and download the Torque app, or OBD Facile app for your phone or tablet. Check the codes, save them, and if the code is not flashing, drive the car. You could even clear them if the extra warnings go away with a few startups. I find it really disappointing to have to "box" these cars due to some annoying software glitch. Warning ... Any time the check engine light is flashing DO NOT drive the car. Shut it down or you could kill the cats. Heck a loose gas cap throws a CEL as well. To lose access to a Quad for 2 weeks and get a lame loaner for an annoying software glitch is not cool. I need to get another blue tooth reading now so I can have it on hand when my Quad is delivered. If the codes are proprietary, we may be out of luck. Facile may also be required to read 2 ECUs.

Andrea: I don't have enough posts to PM you my information. Is there another way I can reach you?
I do need your help to escalate an issue after hearing back from the dealer's service department.

John: Thanks for your suggestion. I'll look into getting an OBD2 reader.

update

Back from travel and picked up my car yesterday.
Here's the summary, hope that it will be useful to anyone with similar issue.

Issue: Got service ETC and check engine lights (manufacturing date of my car is Apr/17)
Root cause: Low fuel pressure fault
Parts replaced: Fuel pump, fuel transfer tube, and some o-rings

An ACC update is available so the dealer also performed this update.
Thanks to Susan, Isiah, Abigail to name a few on Alfa care side that I have been bugging them for help.

Apparently it’s a manufacturing defect with the evap solenoid. Water builds up in there due to temperature changes and the ETC and check engine light pop up. Expect a TSB to come out soon to reroute a couple of the hoses and possibly a new solenoid. At least that’s what I’m hearing from the techs.

Took vehicle to dealer on 2/21/18 for ETCS, CEL, and Hood Release Latch inoperable. Called dealer on Friday (2/23) for and update. The dealer stated that there were misfire codes and they were waiting on parts for the hood release latch. I stopped by the dealer on Monday (2/26) to get and update, and was told that the parts for the Hood Release Latch came in. Also that two spark plugs had been replaced. Since then nothing, nada, zip, zilch from the dealer.

I emailed Alfa Romeo and recieved a case number (33537627) on Tuesday, but have not heard from them since then......

Totally, dissatisfied with Alfa Romeo Dealership experience and with AR customer service at this point.

Honda/Acura Dealers/Customer Service never left me in the void. I received updates on the progress everyday even if it was sorry no new news.

Called Alfa Romeo Customer Service today, only to be told my case had not yet been reviewed (reported on 2/26).

So much for one business day: "A case is being escalated to an Alfa Romeo Specialist for further review to ensure you receive any possible resolution for this concern. You will receive follow up from the Alfa Romeo Specialist within 1 business day. From here they will advise you of the next steps and work between you and the dealer on providing every possible resolution they can. "

Normally, I am very patient, but I'm making payments on a $80K car, and driving a rental Chevy Traverse.
While I appreciate the dealership paying for the rental, I would have expected a loaner Giulia/Stevio/Ghibli.
