I've been getting some creaks lately. While they started at about 5,000 miles cold temperatures may be as much to blame as time and/or distance.

Most likely I agree it's probably due to the cold temperatures.

I’ve had a persistent rattle in the headliner for several months. The dealer has tried numerous fixes to include replacing the headliner. The rattle keeps coming back. I’m starting to wonder if it’s actually the glass vibrating.

If the creak in the liner is like mine it is coming from the area of passenger handle grab at the rear....there is a cable behind that area and liner rubs on it....i removed the grab handle and inserted some soft foam between the cable and liner then reinstalled grab handle and creak is gone....looks like cold exacerbates things as all plastic becomes harder and shrinks a bit.....

From day 1 I’ve also had a clunking noise coming from the glass roof / headliner area. Opening/ closing the sun shade made little difference. This was only a cold weather phenomenon.

I have had the same issue since trading in my 2017 base Giulia for a 2018 Sport TI three weeks ago. Whenever I go over the normal bumps in the road, I have an annoying rattle coming from what sounds like the rear glass part of the roof. I can’t tell if it is the cover hitting the glass or what, but it is really annoying even with the music loud. I am taking it back to the dealer next week for a few other things to include replacement of the clear bra on the bottom portion of the front end since it appears that the dealership manager who was driving the car (I bought the demo) on a daily basis, went over the top of a parking block completely scratching the whole bottom portion of the clear bra which caused the inside of the wheel well on the driver’s side to pull away/unsnap at the corner. It also feels like I need a front end alignment on the car, soooooo they are apparently going to get me a rental car since it will be in the shop at least a couple of days. Hopefully everything gets fixed without any issues!!

We need a 'sticky' of things to look for when buying a car and test driving, this should be one item to look out for.

Has anybody tried silicon lube on the rubber sunroof gaskets to see if that quiets things?

On my car no sunroof, no rattles or squeaks.

Just got a front end alignment (hit a pot hole, steering wheel now slightly angled). Front tow was ever so slightly out of spec, so they adjusted it by 0.14 degrees to the middle of the spec. I swear I hear less road noise now...

Has anyone found a solution to this issue?

My 2018 TI Sport has been in the shop 6 times for this issue for a total of 56 days so far - it is still there. It started in extremely hot weather at 2,400 miles but now does it all the time. They have reprogrammed the roof, installed shims and insulation, and now have removed the headliner and ordered a new motor. I have little hope that this is the issue.

Alfa customer service is also involved along with help desk technicians along with multiple service advisors.

Has anyone actually gotten a permanent repair?

Sorry I don't but do have a question for you? How loud or how much of a rattle do you hear? I'm starting to notice more sounds like rattles, as if I had pocket change on the doors with the music up higher rattling in the doors but it's behind my head to the left somewhere. I find myself holding my arms against the pillars, doors etc to see if that will calm the sound to know the main physical source of the issue. This started like it seems others have stated, at 5k miles to happen. It would be very hard to turn into service to describe and ensure they would hear it and then locate it. So I will surely need to wait until I can show my garage the difference if they drive one of the new ones on the lot and then mine.

My noise started out as a faint crackling sound that would occur after sitting in the sun for a few hours. It continued to get worse and now sounds almost as if someone it typing on a keyboard. During one visit to the dealership the service manager sat in the back and held down on the cross bar section of the headliner and pushed up on the rear fixed portion for the glass and the noise stopped. They can’t however get it to stop without being held manually. (And I don’t want to chauffeur around the service manager everywhere I go). I have videos of the sound and it happens so regularly that there has been no question of it when I take it in. They just can’t fix it.

I had headliner noise from when I bought the car - passenger side around the forward part of the headliner that separates the front & back seat openings. Pressing on the headliner (very hard) would usually stop it (but requires a permanent passenger). It was typically bumpy roads that caused the rattle.

I fixed the problem after a couple months of trying to figure out exactly what was rattling. I (neatly) jammed closed-cell foam sheet (actually sill seal foam used in home construction - 1/4 in thick). I first installed foam on the front seat side/edge of the headliner (where the shade retracts). That helped but didn't completely eliminate the noise. Then I installed more foam on the front side of the rear seat opening. That fixed it.

I cut the foam into 1-1/2 in wide strips and long enough for the entire width of the opening. If necessary, you can double-up the thickness using 2 layers of the foam.
