Today on my way to work the car did something that surprised me. I was standing in line to get through a 4-way stop, and so I had the auto-stop function off. An incoming call made the car shut off, and turn the e-brake on. I could start it again, but it startled me.

Anyone had this happening?

Thanks!

Are you sure those events are related? Correlation does not equal causality.
Yeah, this doesn't sound like a causal relationship (I sure hope it isn't). What's odd though is that it put the e-brake on. I've heard (and experienced) of the car shutting off and switching to neutral, but not turning the e-brake on.

I have the setting for the ebrake to engage every time the car is turned off, so that maybe that. I think it just died at the stop sign for a million other reasons and the phone call was just a coincidence. I don't see how infotainment system can kill the engine.

Ok, so this was the first time it happened to me. I am wondering if the e-brake got engaged as the road is slightly uphill. I like to think the phone call at the same time was a unique case, but I wanted to explain what all exactly happened.

The car goes to the dealer next week to check the heated vent issue, so this will be added. Surely this will not happen while driving...lol

Auto/stop start was definitively turned off?

I'm not doubting you if you are 100% sure, but Occam's Razor would lead one to conclude that auto stop/start could have been on, parking brake assist could have been on, and a phone call came in a the same time. It seems like most stalling also comes with an error message.

There was a message on the cluster screen about auto/start/stop, but it was so fast that I was not able to read it completely. I was standing in line and it was my turn, so my priority was to start and go....

Let's not forget that, Occum-wise, auto e-brake is NOT engaged by an Auto Stop/Start Cycle...however, I never asked this of my car (or looked), but I believe auto e-brake requires Park to be selected. Is the OP certain that e-brake was on before he shifted to park to restart...or does he have auto e-brake disabled?

Ok, so when this happened, the engine quit, and when I started it was in park with e-brake on. I will check if I have the setting set on e-brake, but I doubt it, as I have not seen this issue yet. I am certain I had disengaged auto stop/start.

It only happened once, so let's see what happens.
