Which car will come out on top in a one-on-one drag race, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio VS Mercedes A45 AMG? The guys from Archie Hamilton Racing decided to put them to the test on a damp track and the results may surprise you.

On paper, the Giulia QV is quicker with 503 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque on tap. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, it can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Impressive, when compared to a stock Mercedes-AMG A45 that comes with 381 horsepower. But this specific German rival has 450 ponies and all-wheel drive, which does give it an advantage over the Giulia QV’s rear-wheel drive.

Starting from a dead stop, the AMG A45 does accelerate faster with launch control and it leads the race by a large margin from the get go. But the Alfa Giulia does catch up very quickly and the AMG A45 barely cinches the win.

So what would the results be if they race from a rolling start?

Starting from a 40 mph rolling start is where the Giulia shines. Sure the AMG A45 does lead, but the Giulia QV quickly catches up and leaves its German rival in the dust. What’s holding the Giulia back is traction issues, most likely due to the damp track, but it’s probably something that can be remedied with a more appropriate set of tires.

Check out their drag race video and let us know what you think.
