Hey guys need some advice here. Received the set above however tire tread is at 5/32 and 6/32. Clearly not 3,000 miles worth as mentioned in ad unless tires were defective or were tracked. I realize Michelin SS typically come with about 9-10/32 tread new but that still doesn't add up.

MikWebb hasn't been too responsive because of work and I'm kinda stuck. Set hasn't been mounted and I presented the seller 2 options. Partial refund or work with him and try to get a new set of tires from Michelin because of abnormal tire wear. If option 2 truly happens, I offered to pay him a bit more for his time (he has to get a hold of receipts, call Michelin etc).

I get a response via forum or SMS once every 10 days and things haven't really moved in either option. What are your thoughts?

Did you ask him about tread depths before hand? Otherwise, not worth the headache, your time and the stress. You bought used tires, max performance summer tires at that. I know it’s not what you want to hear, but I’d move along.

Did you read my recent thread? I went through something similar. Don't bother the poor guy- you can do this whole thing on your own just like me. (Instructions below) Also, I have a front set of PSS with 7/32 on them that I'd send to you for $50/each + shipping.

Method:
Honestly your wear is probably normal. Most people are getting 10-15K on a set. But if you want to see if they will warranty them, here's how I did it successfully.

1. Call Michelin and ask to open a "premature wear" case. Explain you are the second owner of the tires and know the mileage, and give them the tire dates off the rubber.
2. Go to your local discount tire or equivalent, and request a warranty inspection. Give them your case number.

At my discount tire, they credited me the full price of the tires on the spot (rears only, but you might get both). Overall it was an amazing experience. Give it a shot.

I should also add that I took mine on not because of the wear, but because it was like driving on ice. No grip at 3/32! Kinda turned me off to Michelin, but the customer service means I'll try them again. I replaced with Conti ExtremeContact Sports and they are an extremely grippy, excellent road tire. I wouldn't do PSS again, but might try Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 or MPS4S to make the car feel even sharper for my next set.

I saw your posts indeed but figured I need a receipt? Is this doable without a receipt? Appreciate the offer, I may take you up on it depending how this plays out. My PS4S have about 14k on them, 5/32 on the fronts and 3-4/32 on the rears. Figured the SS would be similar +/-.

I had a receipt, but no one ever requested it and I never shared it at any step in the process.

I have some updates from Michelin and I'll leave them here to help someone in the future.

Directly from Michelin customer service:
Used tires are not warrantable as the warranty is non transferable.

With that being said, they will offer a "good will" credit (not sure what this means) after inspection at a authorized Michelin dealer.

That's so interesting. I told them I was the second owner of the tires- but I made it explicit that the previous owner bought the tires new. It's possible they are thinking you are the second owner of used tires?

I specifically told them I purchased rims/tires as a set from the first owner. Staggered performance tires are warranted up to 15k miles.
