No doubt some of you may have thought about this question already; how does the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio stack up against its rivals? Jason and Jonny from Motor Trend decided to find out in a four way competition.
Lining up at the Chuckwalla Valley Raceway was the Mercedes-AMG C63, BMW M3 and Cadillac ATS-V. Whichever vehicle had the fastest track time will be pitted against the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio on a road test to see which midsize luxury sport sedan will reign supreme.
There’s the Mercedes-AMG C63 with a twin-turbo V8 engine and it’s the sedan with the longest lap time. Sure it’s interior is luxurious, but that’s not what this competition is all about. Coming in second was the ATS-V with the 2.9L twin-turbo V6 powered BMW M3 coming in first. Both Jason and Jonny agreed that this was the car the Giulia Quadrifoglio had to beat.
Aside from simply having more power than its rival with 505 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, the Quadrifoglio also puts the power down better and it’s smoother too. There’s a bit of slack but it’s not bad considering how turbocharged the engine is and the transmission with short gears works with you.
One gripe they had was with the braking system as it didn’t offer them sufficient feedback through the pedal, but they can forgive it in light of all the fun this car provides.
“Giulia does just about everything as well as or better than just about every other car here."
