10Best is not Motor Trend, it's Car and Driver...just FYI, in case you were referring that people post multiple times the same thing

I think this is the first time the Giulia has won MotorTrend's COTY and it hasn't been in production for four years. But it won against some stiff competition because Porsche’s Panamera is no slouch and neither is the Lexus LC.

The Giulia is the essence of what a Sports Sedan should be. Jounalists are amazed at how better it is than the competition. We will be ruling this class of cars for a while.

Mazda meh

Glad to see Mazda on the list too. Mazda really isn't doing that well financially and these small wins keep them going. The new turbo Mazda6 is quite pretty and the new turbo engine should be a welcome improvement also.
The Mazda's have a sculptural design that sets them apart. From some angles, they actually bear a resemblance to the Giulia.
But they do not even offer an AWD option on any of their vehicles other than the SUV. So that is not going to work for a lot of people in the midwest and north.

Sure, Mazda expects you to buy a CX-5 for that. But, you see many many FWD cars in the NE and are usually ok in the snow - I had my Mazda6 in Pittsburgh and WV. Mud in the Midwest is another issue.

A shame Mazda has never revisited the 323 GTX.

Or the mountains of California.

My Mazda specialist mechanic tells me that my 1999 Protege is pretty much the best handling sedan Mazda ever made and that the new cars would be a disappointment. Maybe he just wants to keep his customer, I dunno.

I actually like the current Mazda 3/6 styling better than Giulia (you can even get them in a color that is very close to Competition Red), but pretty much everything else about Giulia seems to be better than the current Mazda offering. I need the AWD in any case.

Close but no cigar

Back in the early spring, when the Alfa Romeo dealers were offering terrible lease and purchase terms on the Giulia, I decided to take a pass and come back in a few years to see if they had come to their senses. Instead, I looked into getting the Mazda 6, because of the styling and (you are correct) they have a beautiful red color. It's also larger than the Giulia. That's when, much to my dismay, I discovered they did not offer AWD. I never drove it, so I don't know how it handles.

Fortunately for me, a few weeks later dealer stock started to increase, a local AR dealer started doing some great discounts on Giulias and the lease terms improved (slightly). I was thrilled that I waited and ended up with the car that I really wanted.

Only Mazda I ever owned as a Millenia S...not a bad car...not an exciting car either...but at the time it was better than the other Japanese cars that I was seeing...
they usually have very nice designs....the Miata was their Grand Slam car in my opinion

This was their grand slam car, really put them in a different category than honda/toyota etc

although the R100 was something too
Not this?

lost in translation it would seem...my interpretation of grand slam car..is that miata in all its forms had/has a long production run & is the world's top selling roadster ..it is far more recognized on street AND as a more than capable track car.....
I'm not familiar with the RX2...is it a cult car among Mazda lovers??
