Hello everyone.
I own a 2016 Giulia 2.2d currently at 45,000 km.
I have been facing an issue with my loving car and I would like to share it with you.

July 10: First symptom was a multiple engine shut down (about 3 times in a row).
Every time the engine was attempted to start there was a struggle to reach to a smooth running.
It should be noted that fuel tank was at 2 out of 8 and the low level indication was on the cluster a while before the issue occurred.
Immediately fuel tank was filled fully and the engine run fine for the rest of the drive.
The same day in the evening after a few hours of non-use, same thing happened once and then run fine.

The following days I noticed rough idle while coming to a stop or inability to start at first attempt but not very often.
Please see the following videos:
-Morning start-up. Fails to start at 1st attempt. 2nd attempt is successful but at some point increases RPM.

-Later on the same day while about to stop, engine does not stop at idle RPM but goes all the way down and engine dies and switches automatic gearbox to N for protection (I suppose).
When starting the engine struggled to run smoothly. There was strong vibration and abnormal noise (you can hear it)

I have mainly suspected the problem to initiate from fuel system.
So I have changed the petrol station to another and I have added “WURTH Diesel Injection Cleaner”.
Please also take into consideration that prior to switching petrol station, I had been visiting the previous one for the past 20 months without any issues.

I plan to go to the dealership on Monday but I would appreciate to have your feedback before I make it there.

Thanks a lot.

Do you have any active Check Engine Warnings? Do you have an OBD reader? If you you could scan the ECU and we could help further.

There was no obvious fault on the dashboard.
So I connected it to multiecuscan and there is nothing strange on fault codes.

Actually, there were some transmission/gearbox faults which I need to discuss with the dealership but nothing that could be related to the issue I have.

Sounds like a a faulty injector to me given the rough running. You could take it to a diesel engine injector specialist who should be able to test and repair.

Hello again.
I took the car in and it seems like the inlet air manifold pressure sensor was filled with sludge all over.
I suppose wrong readings kept the engine from operating properly.
Having cleaned the sensor, operation is now much smoother.

Your sludge issue looks like oil and it could be similar to
