Hi all, wanted to know for those who have installed the GFB, did you guys feel a lag at WOT? I installed mine couple days ago and feel like the throttle is tighter, heavier and at wot it doesn’t boost as quick as the stock. I certainly didn’t get the butt dyno Im used to and car for some reason felt laggy? I can hear the pressure being built and certainly was slower. Is there is a learning / adaptive period for this product to work to its full effect. Install was easy and done correctly however the stock seemed faster. I may have read somewhere the big spring plays that part? Can someone with knowledge chime in?
Thank you

quite the opposite. Back "on throttle power" is nearly instant, just without the jolt of bypass closing and sudden boost, which was delayed with stock. modulation between 3,500-5,000 rpm is almost without any lag. much smoother power to exit turns with.

I did have to learn to "roll off/roll on" throttle, where before, I lifted and stabbed it. Big improvement.

I see, I’ve felt a change and I don’t mind it its a smoother back On throttle. With stock DV, the wot was quick to spool the turbo, with Gfb does take longer or you can see the rpm go up with the turbo kicks in. However, now that I have driven with GFB, I feel I don’t have to go wot anymore the effect that was felt in stock can be felt without depressing the pedal to wot. Hope this makes sense.

I actually agree with you. I feel the same

What I find strange is that I get that fluttering at WOT... wish more of that was going to making more power.

I tested oem, gfb with spring and without and you can certainly feel a difference. I don’t know what I want now... because at highway speed I’d just wot it and it would kick in. But then with gfb with spring I get the same feeling with just depressing the pedal almost to wot.

I just installed one today and mine vents to atmosphere so a little different experience. I find the GFB one is much smoother (spring installed) then the OEM one for releasing boost pressure. The sound is much better (I have done some tweaking to get a desired sound its not straight to atmosphere) and shorter then it was with the OEM valve.

I 10/10 agree its a good mod after one short drive. It won't make the car any faster but it somehow feels better

I removed the spring in mine so it acts more like stock. I like it way better now.

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind once I’ve added a few miles

I tried with both with and without spring.
with spring I love that I don’t have to WOT to get the butt dyno affect or to spook the turbo, I don’t floor it but gently depress to get amazing acceleration.
without the spring it’s not as same as stock, as with stock if you WOT The rpm would stays low and the turbo kicks in quick. With DV+ no spring at WOT the rpm go high for the turbo to kick in (more lag time)
For me the best is with spring installed, and I feel there is boost available instantly all the time

Beware if you alter the boost profile or response from stock without modifying or piggybacking the signals you may get cel and limp mode when really exercising the system. Dont let it be while trying to oass a car on a two lane road. Out tge car through its paces now to see what you're going to get

In short just use best judgement in those scenarios? I work in Claims - my advice, please pass 1 car / bike at a time.

I just installed the DV+ two days ago. After pushing the car hard for like 10 seconds I got “service electronic throttle” message. I’m guessing something like what you described is what happened here.. will the error code clear itself eventually? Really don’t feel like taking it off and putting the oem one on after just doing it.

Cycle the ignition (not engine) on and off like 10 times then limp mode should go away.

Whatever you do (changing springs) make sure to run the car hard again to make sure the issue really isnt there. Many people don't drive the car hard enough to show the problem then you may get limp mode when you really dont want it

Great I’ll give that a try thanks!

Pulled off of a side street onto a twisty road and pushed it for about 3-5 seconds before the same error warning popped up. Drove it in limp mode home about 5 miles and nothing felt like the throttle needed servicing. Should I just remove the GFB DV and go back to stock? Cycling the ignition did remove the error/limp mode.

also I’ll note that smoothly accelerating to 60 then pushing to 110-120 didn’t throw the code. I did that twice with no error... then proceeded to push it hard from a standstill and that’swhen the code was thrown
