Hi,

In the process of selling my car in order to get a new Giulia Ti AWD within the next month or so, just have a few questions on minor things maybe someone might be able to answer. :smile2:

I have been wondering where one would attach a front plate? It is technically illegal to not have a front plate in the state that I live in. I assume a tow hook mount will work, but just wondering if Alfa will be including mounts on the car from the factory.

I believe there may be a thread on this already, but has anyone been able to get their car examined by WeatherTech or others who could make rubber protective floormats for the car?

Lastly, I like to use sunshades on the inside of my windshield because I park my car out in the sun when I'm not home, to protect the interior from harmful rays. This is very minor, but I am just curious if there is an official sunshade that can be bought as an accessory at a dealer or from someone else. This would be an example designed to perfectly fit the Giulia's windshield, and not just the chrome bendy ones you can get at AutoZone.

Regards,
Max

Below response from WeatherTech, also Husky the same.

Hello Rich,

I apologize, I meant to put Front and Rear are in Design as well as the Cargo Liner for the 2017 Alfa Giulia. They are currently in the design stage so we should have them available for purchase in about 8-10 weeks. If you would like us to, we can put in a product request form for you so that you will be notified via e-mail when the liners are available for purchase.

My state needs front plates also, will ask dealer what they do, if not happy will order the tow hook kind. Do not want any holes in bumper.

Thank you so much! I hope the price is reasonable, probably shouldn't be too bad. I personally am a big proponent of rubber mats, use them year-round as they are so much easier to clean. Thanks again!

I don't see why anyone would drill anywhere in the bumper, there is such little bumper left after the big grilles and headlights :smile2: There was a Giulia in VA on eBay with a stupid front plate mounted on the drivers side, it was crooked and looked terrible. I've noticed on the passenger side when I see it, it is always straight. Maybe a clumsy dealer? Regardless, I will do it because I don't need any more reasons to possibly be pulled over

my state requires them as well....but I can't bring myself to do it
If you only plan on driving the car sometimes, like on weekends, I might consider leaving it off, but I will be daily driving my car. I will put it on, it just needs to be straight!!

it is not a DD but not a garage queen either....3/4 days a week in nice weather...and def. track duty..the law is not really strictly enforced here....100% subjective to the State Trooper, County Police...local police don't usually say anything..

Re: Front Plate: My Ti is ~4 day per week car.. I plan on keeping the front plate in the trunk with zip ties - hopefully if pulled over that will get me a warning.. If I end up attaching it would be below the bumper... Top Gear with Chris Harris does a QV segment with the front plate on the bumper... really takes away from the appearance, imo

Just leased a Giulia Ti today! very excited to get it next week. On this license plate issue, I live in a state that requires a front plate, and have read these posts. what exactly is the tow hook option? I am very hesitant to have holes drilled into the bumper!! Thanks for any suggestions.

I ended up ordering a front tow hook attachment.

Below is the link where i got it:
http://www.alfa9supply.com/new-giulia/alfa-romeo-giulia-plate-mount-kit

It should be delivered in the next few weeks so I will let you know how it goes.

The problem with some of the other cheaper options i saw on amazon and other sites is its adjustability.
The front camera and sensors could possible get obstructed since its adjacent to the tow hook location. the alfa9 kit has multiple drill holes to move the plate up and laterally to get it out of the way.

Actually my Giulia was delivered with a factory plate holder that can be hooked up on where there is a pop out round tab on the front bumper (towards the driver side, not centered) - no drilling required. I think dealers make that option available in states where the front plate is mandatory.

There are two little holes/caps on each side below headlights and some seem to mount a plate on the drivers side (which looks terrible and crooked from what I've seen) or you could use the tow hook mount on the passenger side which appears to be straight

This is something I have heard good things about and yes it fits the Giulia. You do not need to drill into the bumper at all, and please don't :smile2:

Every car (I think) has a tow hook hole and tow hook, you connect the hook into the hole. Instead of the hook going into the hole, you attach your plate bracket on a metal stalk just like a tow hook, except this one has a plate mount on the front and not a hook.

GioSailor and Max... thanks for your replies. I was at my Alfa dealer today, and met spoke to a tech, and one of their product specialists and learned a few things. the bracket that comes with the car is meant to install on the driver's side front, the license plate screws would pierce the bumper. none of us liked that idea! the product specialist drives an Audi, and ordered a hideaway bracket for his car..

www.americanmuscle.com/flipdown-licenseplate-manual.html

although it is a site for all things Mustang, this is where he got it and installed it on the Audi. the Alfa tech said it would definitely install under the front bumper on the Giulia, so I think I am going to give it a try. plate is up when you want it, and slides down and underneath when you don't.

picking up my new car on Monday. very excited! Can't wait to see people looking at it wondering what it is!!
