The search for partner companies continues for Sergio Marchionne and FCA, and now the search has expanded to non-automotive companies.
Marchionne stopped short of naming names, but there is a general understanding that both Google and Apple are looking for an automotive partner to realize their autonomous car goals."We have parallel conversations with many players who are outside the auto sector at the moment," Marchionne told Reuters.
He added: "We can't go into these discussions with a precise idea of what FCA wants. We're learning, just as they are learning. And the solution will be a shared solution and developed together with them, not developed by us alone."
FCA has long been looking for a strategic parent having been shot down by GM, and refusing France's PSA due to that company's weakness in China.
