A pretty uneventful TH practice in FP1 and 2 yesterday. Mercedes - for a team that was "not supposed to be that fast" at Monaco, and likely not even in party mode yet - Q will likely be interesting tomorrow. Good to see our Alfa boy Leclerc getting a good chatter. Hopefully Sauber can hang onto him for another year, but Peter is the king of signing young talented drivers, then selling them off early contract to fund his racing team. Good to see grid girls back as well. :D

Mercedes’ long wheelbase chasis might give them bit more downforce but is probably just enough more cumbersome that it may not do too good in Q, looks like Verstappen and RBR in general have the best package for that crazy track....Pole is everything that matters in that race but then again if Verstappen is in P1 he will likely manage to crash into lapped traffic at some point lol...

I agree on LeClerc, guy is learning so fast and decimating his teammate on regular basis now...no FPs today, hopefully weather holds up through the weekend

Monaco races are always unpredictable but with Max at the back of the pack it could be a real massacre at the start lol...alonso and leclerc again embarassed their team mates in qualifying....id like to root for F cars to end 1 and 2 but the way they actually throw races away lately I think Ricciardo will do it again..,,

I managed to go to the Monaco race and the one in Monza in 1972. While I was stationed in Italy. I need to get back there during a race. Really not that much more than what we spend every year than what it costs us to go to Austin for the USGP

I walked and drove most of the track during normal non race day, just gives more admiration to organizers who put this crazy race together....might even be logistically more simple to attend, stay in Nice and hop on train that brings you directly in town underground, staying in Monaco during race would be these days ridiculously expensive not to mention getting a seat on the limited stands

Staying on a cruise ship offshore is another option. Some offer packages that include grandstand seating.

Familiarity with the place adds to the fun of watching the race on TV. Seeing Casino Square emptied of supercars is a bit odd, though.

Anyone watching in the US on ESPN. While the digital signal has been a bit choppy at times (Verizon?), there have been no commercial interruptions to endure.

It was good on my service (comcast)...during previous races Mother’s has covered tge commercial space so that race was commercial free, bought coupke of things from them just for that reason alone:)

my perhaps amusing Monaco experience:
after overnighting in LA Spezia, Italy we stopped at Cinque Terre - but scheduling did not allow us to walk down and enjoy it.
Continued to Monaco for Saturday practice, where I rolled my window down to catch the sounds, before rushing to Grasse to view the lavender fields.
Yeah, been there, kinda heard it haha

Great race..glad to see Ric win....tremendous job of nursing the car home...just goes to prove at Monaco unless you make a mistake...get out in front and you can hold people off...crazy that the rear end echelon was turning 3/4 second faster laps when they tire changed compared to the leaders....yet were never going to make up ground at that point..

Stuck in 6th gear, if I heard correctly. I wonder whether today's "powerplants" (or whatever they're called) provide more flexibility than the gloriously high-revving engines of years past would have yielded.

"great race"?
I dunno, if someone can lose lower or a gear or whatever they are claiming half way through a race and still win, it's not much of a race (track)
lovely place to hold an event, but that's more of a block party.

edit - or a cruise in https://www.yahoo.com/sports/news/lewis-hamilton-monaco-grand-prix-163914949.html
and that's Monaco....unless you screw up, pole is the place to be at that track....and frankly its not like Vettel didn;t have his chances to pass Ric.....and Max like him or not...finished more than respectable given where he started...
the big take away from here is what people didn't/couldn't do!..namely Williams.
They are a mess from top to bottom...and it will be a miracle if they survive much longer...
as far as Hamilton...never really had an opinion about him...but that article makes me chuckle...

Don't know how many saw the video - but - Keke's was the real deal - sequential shifter and muscles required, though he was a bit light on throttle into and coming out of the apex's. :D. No complicated front wings - ha, no wing at all - could you imagine?
