The last few days I noticed that I couldn't unlock or lock the car with the exterior door handles (driver's side or passenger). I have to use the fob to unlock and lock the car.

I have scheduled a service for next week where they will address this as well as the hood sticking. And of course they aren't concerned, saying it should be simple to fix. but just curious if anyone else has experienced this as well?

There are some issues reported in the forum with the button in the handles not working properly. Winter weather is suspected to make the problem worse.

I disabled the proximity activated door unlock, so I cannot report if the feature works properly on my car. It is too easy to defeat and a security risk IMO; which is easier, pushing a button on the fob or putting the fob in a Faraday cage when it is not in use? The setting is a couple of items deep in the infotainment settings menu.

I'm a little confused here. Do you mean you had to have the key fob in your hand and press the button on the key fob to unlock the door? I always have the fob in my pocket or on a neck lanyard and the door opens with my hand inside the door handle (Passive Entry System). I presume you are not talking about using the actual key? Be sure the key fob is not in your pocket, jacket or hand bag and near or next to a mobile phone, laptop or other electronic device. These devices may block the key fob’s wireless signal. Have you tried both key fobs?

I just received a divine revelation. OK, here is my suggestion for success. Go into the info screen. Menu/Settings/Doors and Locks/Passive Entry. You probably have passive entry set to OFF. Change to ON. BINGO! (If I'm wrong I quit this job!)

For a while, I had a problem with the little lock button on the driver door handle. Turns out that the button was getting stuck in the depressed position. If I pulled it out with my fingertips, I could then unlock the door by pulling the handle. Otherwise, it wouldn't unlock. After about a week of this, the problem seems to have corrected itself, and I haven't had a problem with it in about two months.

Yup, it's the little lock button!

This right here is the issue. The lock button becomes stuck down preventing you from unlocking the doors by grasping the door handle. Pop the button back out and it starts working again instantly. I've had the car to the dealer twice since having this problem (for other reasons) and I keep forgetting to mention it.

It is an inconvenience for sure, but has only happened to me a small handful of times and therefore I decided not to make a dealer visit for this problem alone.
