I've installed the Escort 9500ix just below the rear view mirror. On the Alfa it acquires GPS signal maybe 30% of the time. Never had this in any of my cars before. Could this be due to the UV blocking windshield? Any thoughts.

Pretty sure its not the lack of UV, or indeed IR if you have the AR windshield option that reduces the IR. There is clearly a bunch of electronics in that housing on the windshield in front of the mirror. My guess is either the electronics are blocking enough of the GPS signal or perhaps interfering slightly. Should be easy enough to confirm by temporarily moving the escort somewhere else. Can it clip to a sun visor for a test?

My iPhone with a dash mount has no problem with GPS for Waze so I don't think the Giulia's are blocking all GPS signals.

Just to make sure, you haven't had a metallic tint film applied to the windshield have you?

Yeah, try all those things. It's probably interference.

I have my 9500ix mounted lower, ad I don't seem to have the same issue. It seems to have the GPS signal most of the time. I do have the IR windshield.

Escort 9500i here (yes, I'm looking to upgrade)...no issue with GPS acquisition, but I mount it about 10 inches under the mirror.

No tint film on the front windshield. I'll try moving the unit to see if I get better signal. Interestingly I had mounted the radar detector in the exact same position in my previous Giulia with no problem.
