Yesterday, when getting in to leave my office, I started the car and found that every warning indicator was lit. Also, scrolling messages across the center display showing that various systems and exterior lights were failed or unavailable. AC blowing hot, only the drivers window would roll down, fuel guage red with no reading available. Shut down and restarted several times and ended up calling the dealer. They had me drive it in and worked on it for about an hour with no result so they put me in a a loaner car. Anyone heard of this before? :frown2:

Update. Dealer has a ticket in to an Alfa engineer. See how long this takes to resolve. I guess I took a big risk on this car and dealer network.

sounds like 70amp abs module fuse went out all the same stuff was going on on mine

Seems like the dealer did the right thing ....and quick....Don't think you should sweat it just yet...

Well, thanks. I hope so. I really love the car but it makes me feel anxious having a problem this early on.

Completely understand and you shouldn't lower your expectations of perfection....however, you have a warranty and the dealer seems responsive....hopefully all will resolve quickly...Best of luck....D

@crow71 Sounds like your dealer is doing a good job and taking this seriously.

Please keep in mind that all car brands have their share of issues. 2017 was the first year of an all new design and build, there are bound to be glitches to work out. I was hoping that most bugs would have been worked out by 2018. Be patient and let AR resolve your issues. They are trying, even if it doesn't seem that way sometimes.

I also had an electrical problem today as well. Started the car as normal, went to reach for the Start/Stop A button (to disable start-stop) then put the dampers into SOFT mode as I usually do, and then I threw a U0002 code and a Service Engine light came on, with multiple other check system lights as well. I cleared the CEL, then restarted it and drove it around 15-20 miles and then it was gone after another restart. Weird and annoying, but no harm seemed to come out of it.


The U0002 code seems to be related to the electrical system and the high speed communication line for the computers. Of note, it was pouring in LA this AM and it might be related to that. Will update everyone if it shows up again.

I had these when I got a P2422 evap vent stuck code, dealer said the u codes did not show up on his system.
U197C communication auto transmission
U1746 lost communication Amplifier
U1713 Engine control (think it said communication also)

Update: Nothing to report. No word from the dealer. Alfa CS and Alfa Cares responded to make me aware that they have escalated to a Case Manager. I should hear from them on Monday.

Update: no contact from the dealer or Alfa as of now. Dealer service department never answers and the call goes to someone’s personal voicemail. Doesn’t look good. Looks like a lemon law candidate. I will just drive this loaner for 3 more weeks assuming it doesn’t break down.

Dealer and Alfa CS finally responded yesterday. Still no diagnosis or any idea when or if the car will ever be repaired. Very disappointing. 7 days and absolutely nothing.

Update: I texted my salesman yesterday afternoon and to my surprise he told me the car was ready to be picked up. I called and spoke to the service advisor who told me that although they could not determine the cause of the issues, the vehicle had been operating normally for several days and test drives. He stated that the Alfa engineers had all the diagnostic data and would continue to look at it to try and find the cause. In the meantime, they wanted to return the car to me. I picked it up yesterday and drove about 30 miles with no issues. I am going to be nervous about it happening again from now on. Going to be a while before I can completely trust her again.

I did note that after driving the loaner 17 AWD model, my 18 drives like a completely different car. Engine and trans are smoother, ride and handling are much much better. Also seems like the 18 may have better engine and road noise isolation.

Glad you got your car back.

This could be the difference between AWD and RWD. A bigger bet is that their 17 loaner car doesn't have all the updates that were included during the assembly line that your 18 got.

Honestly, if the loaner had been the car that I test drove initially, I would have walked away. That thing drove like the 2009 Altima that I bought my wife new back in that year. We hated it and traded it in on my BMW 2 years later.

My wife's 2018 Giulia Ti Sport Q2 had this same issue this morning when she went to leave for work. Car was in the garage over the weekend and did not move until this morning.

I don't assume you were given an update as to what caused the issue were you?
