Bought my 2018 Giulia Ti Sport in December 2018 after the tragic end of my Audi S5. I fell in love with the Giulia the first time I drove her and still love driving her. Unfortunately the CEL has come on for the 6th time in under 12k miles and just barely a year of ownership. First time, March 2019, under 4K miles, they updated software. June 2019, 6250 miles, replaced vent control valve solenoid. September 2019, 9300 miles, same solution as time before. Right before leaving for thanksgiving trip, light came on again so we got a rental car knowing we were going through parts of the country where getting it fixed could be problem and took it to dealer when we got back in December 2019, opened star case, was advised to replace fuel sensor. Second time in December 2019, 9 days after getting it back, immediately opened star case, software upgrade. Have had the car for 4 days since picking it up and light back on for the 6th time. Fortunately they’ve provided a loaner all but the first two times. I truly love this car and planned on keeping her long term but I’m soooo tired of all these trips to the dealership. I’m sure when I call the service dept Monday morning, I won’t even have to tell them what the problem is. They have been very kind and accommodating but I really would like to keep my visits at once a year/10k miles. While it seems like a relatively minor issue, it’s not when it keeps inconveniencing me. I tell them I’d rather they keep the car longer and make sure it’s fixed right then hurrying it out the door. I’m just so tired of it and don’t know what the next step should be.

I have a 2018 Ti Sport and haven’t seen any CEL’s at all, with about 15,000 miles so far. Only 2 dealer visits for oil change (and a S/w update during first visit). Apparently, they are resetting the fault code and after a short while it’s triggering again. The bits they’ve replaced don’t appear to be the right bits?

That’s crazy. Maybe get an OBD2 reader and phone app so you can pull, read, and clear codes. There are non-critical faults that’ll throw MILs, so having clearing ability can be handy when you’re on the road.

This sounds like they have not ever fixed the original problem which implies that they do not understand the problem.

Getting your own OBDII reader is strongly recommended for any modern car owner. That way you can at least read the error code before your car automatically resets it. The auto-reset happens for many intermittent errors after the car has been started and stopped some number of times.

Zero modifications I assume? If so they need to escalate this issue. They need to stop wasting your time throwing parts at it and actually diagnose the issue. Possibly an ECU swap might be in the cards, seems as though the software might be the issue. I wish I had more information to help. Love to know the codes present or past from the CEL.

You can grab the Multiecuscan interface and adapters from me if you choose. Mine are high quality - Made in Germany
