While at a stop light yesterday my car popped up a check engine warning, stop/start was disabled, and the CEL came on. My car has an Automatic connected to the OBD-II port which popped up an alert on my phone saying that the car had issued a P2422 error code.

I did a little research and found that P2422 references a problem with the vent valve of the evaporative emissions control system. Some said that the fix is often as simple as removing and reseating your gas cap as the tank didn’t pressurize properly. I did that and then reset the CEL through the Automatic app. Everything has been fine since, but I was wondering if anyone else here has had that code appear. Hoping to avoid a dealer visit if possible as they’re an hour away.

gas cap codes are common to all cars, got my first experience with it on a road trip in bmw, somewhere in ND.
freaked out, called my home shop, and relaxed.
