I did not realize that real carbon fiber interferes with radio signals. Case1: I just installed a carbon fiber cover for the radio antenna on the roof. Next thing I know is that the satellite radio is skipping.
Case 2: I installed my Escort radar detector just below the rear view mirror. It would lock onto GPS signals very infrequently and I had to disconnect it because of the high rate of false alarms. I had the same radar detector mounted on the exact same location of my base Giulia with no problems. I originally attributed this to maybe interference from the UV protecting windshield of the Quad. I now think it is most likely due to interference from the carbon fiber roof.

That makes sense, since carbon is an electrical conductor. It is used for electric motor brushes, for example.

I wonder if EM attenuation would be a way to test for "real" carbon fiber.

I believe this is an issue as well.

We had some CF iPhone cases. They were genuine AR merchandise with the 4C logo. Everyone who got one reported terrible phone reception. So maybe there are some instances where CF is just not appropriate.
