Wife recently acquired a 2017 Giulia. It was a great deal although the car had about 3,500 on the clock and had spent some time on the lot. We noticed immediately that the brakes were toast -- far beyond a sheen or rust that would cure with use. Pitted badly. Dealer was great and replaced all four corners. All is good.

My specific question: The service writeup includes this- "performed brake burnishing procedure as outlined in STAR publication". Just curious what this is. Any brake experts in the house?

Burnishing is just an archaic word for bedding the pads....they just drove a round a bit and applied brakes progressivelly stronger as outlined in bedding process...

Was this a demo unit that had brakes potted after 3500 miles?

Surely a demo and it lives in a road salt climate. Definitely severe rust pitting from prolonged inaction.
