So my son has reached around 28lbs and the infant car seat I have him in now is already too small for him (he's about 19mo's old). I've been digging through the forums here and have had difficulty finding specific brands and models of rear facing car seats for toddlers that fit well into the rear right seat of a Guilia as most of the threads are 4+ years old and most specific seats mentioned aren't made anymore or very hard to find. I'm just trying to find a good car seat for my boy that won't put my wife's knees into the dash of the car when she has to ride in the car with me. Any help is much appreciated!

I have the Graco 4ever Deluxe in mine, they’re both forward facing now but had one read facing behind the drivers seat for awhile. Pretty sure with how the drivers seat automatically moves back when you open the door it would barely nudge into the child seat and push it maybe like an inch or so. But I would usually just make sure to tap the seat control switch to stop it from moving. Other than that had no issues.

Interesting, I'll give that one a look. I was checking out some Graco seats already since that's what we had been using, I'll compare the dimensions of the 4ever deluxe to mine and see if there's much difference. Thank you!

I thought they grow out of an infant seat at 1 year or less (by height).

We’re expecting, so lots of research haha.

I picked the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio 4-35 Lounge for our infant car seat.

I think when we are ready for a convertible, we will get the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio All-in-One. It goes from rear facing to booster. It comes out this spring.

No idea how well it fits the Giulia, but I hope it does. Seems smaller than the infant seat. They are both made in Italy.

You know you can turn off the easy entry push back. At least my 2022 has the ability to deactivate that function.

The calling his current seat an infant seat was the best way to describe it as I was pressed on time when I was writing the original post, it lasted him to about a year and we've only used it a couple times sinces he's technically outgrown it, he usually rides in his mothers car which has a much bigger all in one type seat that would not fit in my vehicle.
I looked into the Peg Perego Primo seats a bit today actually and I saw that there were a few people having quality issues be it with construction or surprisingly quick fraying on the straps near the buckle. Maybe their new seat coming out may prove better quality, but those pictures were enough to put me off of that particular brand. Though I would hope that an Italian designed and built seat would fit in an Italian car nicely lol

That’s why we bought the Graco because they go from rear facing to booster as well. I think the recommendations say to transition to the next level when they reach the height and weight limits for each position. Our youngest is almost 3 and barely meets the forward facing requirements but he’s also a runt lol we also have the Evenflo Revolve 360 in our suv but they have a huge base so they probably wouldn’t fit right in a Giulia but they’re nice to have because they turn to make kids easier to put in their seats.

I haven’t found anything to shut it off in my car but also never looked into it much. Assuming it probably got fixed in 2020 with the refresh.

Using an Evenflo Gold EveryStage DLX from the early beginning and have no any regrets. Just need to be sure it will fit in to car cause it's pretty volume but it's also roomie inside so kid will be delighted. Here it is installed at the rear seat of my family car - 159, it set up in rear face position on the pic but this model is a universal one from the newborn almost and up to 54kg

We have the Nuna Rava and its worked out well and easy to clean. The system they have to secure the seatbelt is pretty great.

It's a little expensive but still recommend if its in the budget.. My boys started using it around 2 and they are now 4.

The only con is that its a little bulky but still fine in my QV. Once they hit 40+ pounds I might consider something a bit more lightweight.

Prior to the Nuna Rava had the Uppababy Mesa which was great for when they were infants and easily dropped into the stroller.

our grandkids are 5 and 8, and using any car seat even in larger cars really pushes the front seat passengers far up close to the dash, since the kiddo's need some leg room too. Plus modern seats are heavy to lift in and out, and reach around to snap or buckle in. Our son just bought five new seats for their two boys, they are suitable for growing kids. These new ones allow the boys to reach around and pull the car seat belts around and snap them in. The hard part of kids seats is the rear strap that snaps into the hooks on the back of the rear seats. The loosening of the seat strap sliders is really difficult. I am all for safety for children. but moving car seats from one car to another is a real backbreaking deal. Good luck with whichever you chose.

Thank you for clarifying.

Yea the new one is brand new, so who knows. The company has been around since 1949. They now offer an Agio brand which is an upscale version of their stroller/infant car seats to compete with Uppababy. That's what we ordered for the infant seat and it's matching stroller. Can't wait for the bambina.

It is when they reach either, height OR weight. Not both (I mean that is possible to happen simultaneously, but less likely).

The older cars have it too.

Try this:

For the Nuna Rava, how much space was available to the front seats when it was rear-facing? How cramped were they compared when using the Mesa? My wife is 5'2. I am 6'1 so it can't go behind the driver.

This is the one I used. Fantastic. Now we use their booster seat.

In the rear facing position, its tight but acceptable for me. I do pick ups and drop offs multiple times a week. Sure my wife's SUV is far more comfortable and spacious, but I'll live with the trade off that I have a car that I can comfortably take to the track and haul my boys to school.

My boys are also on the taller end and one of them would get motion sickness so we ended up going forward facing a little sooner. They were starting to sit cross legged, which made them a bit uncomfortable and couple that with the motion sickness going forward facing made everything better.

I also have the Nuna Rava in my Giulia and fits nicely in the car and has easy adjustments. My son is pretty tall though at 14 months so I may Have to turn him around soon but will wait and see the recommendations after research. Mostly his knees are already starting to kind of fold because the backseat is so close. Anyway, I also recommend this car seat, I have a weather tech seat protector underneath as well, I’m hoping it’s protecting my seat okay.

Also couldn't agree more on having a seat protector underneath. Has definitely done the job as well as keeping the leather in good condition. For some reason or the other I end up having to take the seats out every couple months and no issues at all.

I use these to protect the seats

and these for the seat back (well reviewed but I think they are ok - they do the job)

I was going to use that Brica seat cover but reviews said the blue grippers leave imprints in leather. Pics online are horrific. I have the Diono mats on our registry.
