Has anyone tested this feature thoroughly? I've walked back to my car a few times and didn't hear the car unlock as I approached, yet the doors were unlocked. I'm starting to get the feeling that the car doesn't automatically lock the doors consistently despite having this setting on.

I dont know if this feature is available but I can be wrong.

Per the manual:

DOORS
Locking And Unlocking
Doors From The Inside
If all doors are closed properly, they will
automatically lock once the vehicle has
exceeded approximately 12 MPH
(20 km/h) (“Auto Relock” function
active).
Push the interior lock button on the
driver or passenger side door panel trim
to lock the doors.
With doors locked, push the unlock
button on the interior trim panel to
unlock the doors.
Note:
The key fob may not be found if it is
located next to a mobile phone, lap top
or other electronic device; these
devices may block the key fob’s
wireless signal.

Per the manual:

......
that obviously only applies if you're inside the car ...... ;)

question relates to after parking/leaving the car ....

To lock the doors, afaik you have to press the button on the outside doorhandle, or use the remote.

From manual:
Door locking
To lock the doors, proceed as follows:
make sure that you have the
electronic key and are close to the driver
or passenger side door handle;
press the "door locking" button
fig. 7 located on the handle or the button
fig. 8 on the boot near the open button:
this will lock all doors and the boot. Door
locking will activate the alarm as well
(where provided).

edit: looking in the manual, you should be able to set auto-lock mode :

<snip>
Doors & Locks
The following settings can be modified when this
mode is selected:
• Lock doors while moving: activates/deactivates
the function
• Unlock all on exit: activates/deactivates the
function
• Passive entry: activates/deactivates the function
• Unlock doors on entry (where available): allows
you to select either "all doors" or "driver door"
• Horn with Remote Start (for versions/markets
where provided): this allows to activate/
deactivate the horn when the engine is started
with the electronic key.
• Sound Horn with Lock: allows you to choose
between the following options: OFF, "Once" or
"Twice"
• Automatic lock: activates/deactivates the
function

• Restore Settings: deletes the current settings
and restores the factory settings.
Enter the single functions and adjust them by
rotating and pressing the Rotary Pad.

Isn't relock the doors locking automatically when the car exceeds ~20 km/h? See page 20 of the owners manual.

I could do with the red door lock indicator being a little less bright.

There are two separate settings. One states "Lock doors while moving" and the other says "automatic relock" I assumed that meant that it locks when you walk away from it. My CTS had that feature. I have given up trying to understand any logic in how the electronics work in this car.

Yeah I can't figure it out for the life of me! There has to be a away for the car to automatically lock, it's such a basic feature in cars now days. Has anyone figured out how set the car to automatically lock on exit?

To test it, walk away and place your keys at least 30 ft. from the vehicle. Now walk back without the keys and try the locks.

The car does not automatically lock, you must lock the vehicle when leaving. It does appear the the vehicle will automatically re-lock if it is unlocked and a door is not opened whith in a brief time from the unlock.
