I have used multiscanecu to add paddle shifters, disable seat belt ding and a few more things but I did some playing with AlfaOBD to see what settings they had vs Multiscanecu. Here are a few. Check my comments under each if you have thoughts or ability to check your config.

I was surprised my IBS setting was absent. I know it exists. I am curious if its just reading it wrong or configured wrong. Anyone else have the ability to check theirs?

There is a battery settings. It had a few options that specifically called out Giulia including one that was Lithium. I am curious if and how it affects charging or anything else.

I know in MES there are two types of DNA settings to enable Race mode. Are these the equivalents in AlfaOBD or is it possible to just have ESC disable (probably still need to add the DNA+R control) and keep the DNA mapping the same?

Based on an Italian forum, if you have this set to IOC and VP it adds the visual compass to the infotainment (didn't try yet).

There were 5 logic modes that I saw. I wonder if any of them enable EU style paddle shifter controls on US cars?

Some good questions there, I'm also interested in the answers. Can anyone show the compass setting works?

Struggling to get AlfaOBD to connect with my car. Torque and Dashcommand work fine, and can get a Bluetooth connection happening with AlfaOBD, but it won't connect with any modules. It tries to reconnect four times over, but fails each time.

Note: I'm trying the demo version on Android to verify it works first before spending $48AUD on the full version, could that be the reason?

are you using the required adapters for the relevant module ?

I'm using my generic ELM327 Bluetooth adaptor that works with the other programs
to access certain modules, you need the coloured adapter cables, as they are on different CAN busses......
See (for MES, similar AlfaOBD) :
required adapters MES

required: A5 - Blue, A6 - Grey

Thanks. Might have to put this into the too-hard basket for now then
1. I would try MultiscanECU (MES) first, they support the giulia/stelvio better.
2. There are some connection speed settings and otherwise in alfaobd/MES you might have to adjust. Also some cheap OBD readers don't do well with MES and AlfaOBD. I would look at Multiecuscan - Diagnostics software for Italian cars for more information. If all else fails get an OBDlink MX+ or other recommended OBD reader.
3. If its a 2018 or newer you will need a Security Gateway (SGW) bypass to make changes/clear codes.

1) there were changes on IBS sensor between pre-MY20 and MY20 models. IBS is set as absent on pre-MY20 and as "Type 2.5" on MY20. can't remember for sure, but I think setting it on pre-MY20 will fail proxi, you can always test it. worst case scenario you'll have to visit dealer to restore your proxi 😂

2) seen battery setting too. from my experience with other cars with IBS it should control charge strategy for battery. I try to set it to match battery.

3) there is whole thread on RACE DNA where all modes are described.

4) compass display is self explanatory. displays it where it says: no compass; cluster top corner; infotainment screen (like Stelvio); both;

5) "Logic 0" enables EU paddles control.

Would EU paddle controls mean pulling both is neutral and up is drive even on a NAFTA spec?

Thank you for all of the detail.

1.) Haha yeah, I am a little more cautious on making these changes on the Giulia vs my Ram. Reverting on my Ram seems easier/less risky and I have a dealer less than 5 miles away vs 1.5 hours.
2.) I doubt we would ever get the logic behind this and #1, but if we could, maybe we could alleviate more of the battery issues. I know I have seen and many others that the battery rarely charges to full.
3.) I have read too much of the race mode posts :) . I am assuming they align with two race types in MES but since they were named different and I don't know what proxy bytes/settings each change, I can't confirm.
4.) I assumed VP meant the infotainment screen but didn't know for sure. Thanks for verifying.
5.) This is awesome. Do you know if anyone has done this on US or other country spec and if any other changes are required or if it is locked out based on vehicle region?
