It’s a three way drag race between the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV, BMW M3 and Cadillac ATS-V. Who will come out on top? MotorsportMagazine decided to find out in a 1km (0.62 miles) sprint with all three models lined up.
There are other offerings in the high-performance luxury compact sedan segment with more models on the horizon. Jaguar will be jumping into the fray with their XE SVR that’s estimated to produce around 500 horsepower and Audi already has a new RS4 Avant in the works.
But for now, it’s just the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde, Cadillac ATS-V, and BMW M3 Competition Package in this race.
On paper, the Giulia QV has the most power as its twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine has an output of 503 hp, which is noticeably more than the M3’s 444 hp and ATS-V’s 464hp. But power alone may not be enough to win this race, especially if you take into account each model’s 0-60mph sprint time. They’re actually all quite close with both the Giulia QV and ATS-V taking a mere 3.8 seconds with the M3 lagging behind by just 0.1 seconds.
So who will reign supreme in a three way drag strip shootout? You’ll just have to watch and see.
