There may have been a few bumps along the way but Alfa Romeo has finally released their halo model, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, and there’s already rumors of its platform being used elsewhere. Perhaps a M4 fighting 4C replacement is in the works.
AutoBILD claims that the 2020 Giulio based 4C replacement coupe could take on the Brera nameplate. When it was still in production up until 2010, the Brera came in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive but the 2020 Brera is said to come standard with RWD and an optional AWD. Also getting an update is the 4C’s mid-engine layout. This because the Giorgio platform was designed with a front mounted engine in mind so the engine will be moving from behind the driver to the front.
Besides sharing its underpinning with the Brera, AutoBILD believes that the engine lineup of the Giulia will be shared too. So if there is a grain of truth to this rumor, we could see a Giulia Quadrifoglio Coupe sporting the 503 HP 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 in the future.
If we ever do see it go into production, the new Brera will probably compete against BMW’s 4-Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe.
