Today is a very special day as we get to let you see what we at MADNESS have spent the last six months working on!

The very first custom made direct factory replacement full carbon fiber intake box!

We just fitted the final prototype to our Giulia and the final version should be available to order in the next 30 to 45 days!

The box completely replaces the original factory box and houses an entirely new filter. The filter has been upgraded from a flat panel to a large diameter double cone. Shown here from left to right is a factory filter, a drop in BMC filter, and the new double cone filter.

Which is then completely enclosed in the carbon box allowing it to scoop cold air from the intake tubing and not the hot air in the engine bay. This also helps to keep the filter cleaner longer and add the custom look under the hood.

Has you can see, the new box is much smoother than the factory one which allows the engine to breathe easier and increase power.

We also did not move or relocate any of the sensors. The mass air flow is still in the original location, orientation and order. So we have not seen any errors or check engine lights as a result of this upgrade.

We are also working on replacement tubing after the MAF. That tubing will also have a smooth design and constructed out of silicone. It should also be available within 30 to 45 days has either a separate piece or in a kit with the carbon fiber box.

It’s almost too pretty to keep hidden under the hood...

You plan on one for the QV?

How large is the cone?

Also will you have some dyno results on this?
There is a photo above comparing the three different filters.

from left to right is the factory, drop in BMC, and the new double cone filter.

Something better is on the horizon. This first custom designed carbon fiber sealed intake system for the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio! Utilizing the factory mounting locations, grill scoop, and incorporating a large Italian made double cone BMC filter inside of a carbon fiber housing. We can not only increase smooth air flow we can increase power. Plus it looks amazing!

COMING JULY 2018

Our new MAXFlow Carbon Fiber Intake System is designed to deliver performance gains, improved sound along with show stopping looks.

The MAXFlow Carbon Fiber Intake System features a custom made housing that is manufactured out of 100% Genuine Carbon Fiber. The housing is finished with a high gloss clear coat for a showstopping look that is second to none.

The MAXFlow Carbon Fiber Filter Housing is designed to link up with the original factory front air inlet of your Alfa Romeo Giulia. This design allows for clean, cold air coming in from the front air inlet opening to be routed directly in to the new airbox. The factory air inlet was designed for maximum efficiency by Alfa Engineers and we designed our system to take advantage of this design.

That's a lot of money for just a carbon box and filter.
You can’t say “just carbon [fiber].” Carbon fiber parts are expensive to make...especially beautifully molded, low production volume pieces. You should see the prices CF bicycle bits fetch!

That's a lot of money for just a carbon box and filter.
It is not just a square box to house a standard filter. The MAXFlow Carbon Fiber Intake was custom molded by our crew in Texas to specifically fit into the Giulia and Stelvio. Keeping it enclosed like this is more expensive upfront but pays for itself down the line and allows us to do two very important things.

First, by creating an enclosed system we can take advantage of the factory scoops Alfa built into the bumper. So instead of sucking in air from the engine bay like other intake systems do the MAXFlow gets fresh air from in front of the vehicle.

The second thing the enclosed system does is keep the filter cleaner longer which in turn provides a better airflow over the life of the filter. By keeping the filter separated from all the heat and dirt in the engine bay we are able to provide the cleanest, coldest, and smoothest air possible.

On the subject of the filter; the filters we use are not cheap paper cones or things that you pick up at the parts store. We use genuine BMC filters in every intake. BMC has a long history in motorsport and is the filter of choice for the champions in many of the series today including Formula 1 (9 titles), American Le Mans (10 titles), Le Mans*24Hours*(11 titles), DTM (9 titles),*Superbike*(2 titles), AMA*Superbike*(1 Title),*Suzuka*8Hours*(1 title).
