Rumor has it, Alfa Romeo is planning to unveil a Giulia Coupe at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show on March 7.

If true, this will be the first four seater coupe Alfa Romeo has produced in seven years and it’ll be the third model to sit on the Giorgio platform. Sharing a platform with its sedan sibling, the coupe may come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Perhaps it’ll even offer the same engines as the sedan including a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-litre petrol engine, 2.2-litre diesel and the range topping 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine found in the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Motoring thinks the coupe will likely take on the historic Giulia Sprint nameplate and rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe, BMW 4-Series Coupe and Audi A5 Coupe.

Further down the line, we can expect to see the Giulia family expand to include a convertible Sportwagon for a four body style lineup. Chances of seeing these derivatives are high as alfa Romeo promised to release eight Giorgio-based models by 2020.

But this is of course a rumor and it has not been confirmed by Alfa Romeo. We’ll just have to wait for until next month to find out more.

It needs to happen. That release may put the car in production in time to compete in LM GTE next season.
