I don't know who "inews" is, but that is a shocker! If AR can pull off something even remotely close to that with one of the prominent U.S. based reliability ratings companies, that would be huge for them.
p.s. I don't actually see the Giulia on any of the vehicle lists. Am I missing it?

The survey is the "What Car? Reliability Survey". This is run by the Haymarket Media Group, a specialist media group in the UK that owns a number of magazines with worldwide reach and also provides media advisor and consultent services. The survey for 2017 is based off 14,208 responses about 169 models of car and 32 brands. In this survey, a difference of about 13% would be one standard deviation, so we can assume that there is a pretty wide range of results from such a small sample size. Also, since we are sampling 0-3 year old cars, the Giulia hasn't made an impact yet.

With Alfa Romeo I always say - so far. So far after 5,500 miles the car has been flawless. At least they are on the right track. They can build a reliable car. Can they build more than one? Will it last as the miles build up?

Glad to hear that actual owners and not the media are commenting on the reliable of their cars.

AR apparently only had Giulietta counted in the poll. It is not clear to me why Mito does not appear. This compact FWD hatchback was called a "family car" by the Brits. BMW 3 series was put under "executive cars", lumped together with BMW 5 and 6 series as well; presumably Giulia would also fall in that excessively broad category but it was not present.

Brand reliability appears to be biased by some less reliable models such as SUVs.

The Giulietta reliability listing links to a review in which the car got extremely bad marks for reliability, contradicting the reliability survey results. The review basis for giving the car the lowest possible mark for reliability is unclear to me. Within the category of Family cars, Giulietta was middle of the pack.

0-3 years old is a small window for reliability on a self reported survey. I don't know anyone who has purchased a Mitsubishi in the last 3 years but I know a ton of people who have a Honda/Toyota/Nissan. So the fact that at scale I can still make a good car is much impressive than Mazda/Alfa/Subaru (small companies) making a few good ones.
