Hey Everybody,

I work for aFe Power as an intake design engineer. Currently we are developing a sealed cold-air intake system that will be releasing sometime during the Summer. It retains all of the factory hoses and same stock air inlet location. We have provided an auxiliary inlet, which can be plugged, behind the passenger-side radiator support for quick, and easy accessibility.

We will also be developing several exhaust systems, i.e. cat-back, turbo-back, and axle-back configurations. Development hasn't started yet but will begin soon. I really wanted yo get input from the Giulia community before making any huge decisions. What are all of you looking for in an exhaust / intake system? Would you want to see an open element intake system with a sheet-metal housing? Really just trying to get a feel for what the people who drive these cars everyday truly want out of a performance product.

Thanks!

I have never given my intake much thought actually. I've thought about the exhaust some though and will share my thoughts.

First, I do have a dedicated race car and I daily an Alfa Romeo 4C, both of which are somewhat noisy. Our Giulia Ti (2.0) is the only car we own that comfortably seats four people and it's nice to be able to hold a conversation without needing to scream. But, there are times when I want some rumble, such as when I'm in the canyons pushing the car. Later, back on the Interstate, she needs to be quiet again.

So, here are my thoughts. The Quad has a duel system from the factory, so the Giulia 2.0 is ready to accept a duel system right after the CAT. Shortly after the CAT, put in a splitter with a control valve and add a second exhaust pipe. Leave the stock pipe, resonator & muffler alone (as much as possible). The new second exhaust pipe will be an unrestricted run using one (left side) stock exhaust tip. Somewhere in the cabin, add a control switch of some type that opens/closes the valve.

Quite mode: Exhaust runs through the right pipe, resonator, muffler and out the right side tip.
Loud mode: Flip a switch or press a button and the valve changes position opening the left pipe which is un-muffled & un-restricted exiting through the OEM left tip.

The exhaust valves I've looked at open the one port leaving the other port open as well. The hot gasses will flow through BOTH sides of the system, most through the unrestricted side. The new run could probably be slightly larger than OEM as the old run will share some flow. I'm not sure how loud this would actually become. I've not actually heard a Giulia 2.0 uncorked.

At this time, I have no desire to make our Giulia look any different.

Just my thoughts.
