Does anyone know if there is a way to add an additional 12v aux/cigarette lighter outlet to the dash area? I'd like to plug in my radar detector somewhere other than under the center console armrest, which is stupid inconvenient.

In particular, has anyone explored replacing the dashboard USB panel on the Giulia Ti with the dashboard USB/12v panel on the Stelvio Ti? I looked at one, but couldn't tell if it's the same size or not, but I'm guessing the wiring harness is shared, and that there's a connector in the Giulia dash wiring harness for the 12v, so if the panels are the same, a swap could be easy.

I could probably have a shop wire a 12v aux underdash on the passenger side, near trans tunnel, too...

Any help is appreciated.

Doesn't the Stelvio have one? Maybe some simple parts binning.

You are looking for a splitter, if you only have two things you need to plug in, this is perfect. You plug it into the center console plug, and then run it where you would like, and you now have 2 plugs. I am playing it safe and not running too too many things

I have mine mounted near the passenger footwell (and you can hide it even more) with velcro holding it. It has held for 7 months, since I owned the car

Further commentary -- I think it's ridiculous there isn't more than a single 12v outlet in the entire car ... one of my few complaints with the car

While I understand the demand, I personally have not used a 12V outlet in at least a decade.

Hmm, that could work, but it seems like an untidy bodge...how did you route the cable from inside the center console to the footwell? And that center console bin is small and shallow as it is; I’m not sure I like the idea of having 12v plug intruding on that space.

There must be an ignition switched hot wire under the dash (and I’d wager money there is a connector in the harness under there, too) to tap into, so maybe I could have a shop do that. For what that’s worth, though, I can just get the Escort Radar hardwire kit and tap the switched power at the rearview mirror mount, and forego the 12v plug altogether.

I move the detector between cars, but I’m realizing the unit itself is not hardwired in, just the power lead from the car, so it’d still be a quick unplug and swap. Yeah, that’s the way to go!

Thanks, everyone, for letting me work my way through this!

Now, if I could get the dual rear USB outlets Stelvio has... :nerd:

This is why I joined this forum as I have the same issue. My intention at this stage is to retrofit the Stelivo USB/12v panel and piggy back on to the existing wires leading on the 12v socket in the armrest and run a retrofit loom to the 12v socket in the USB panel. Has anybody done this yet?

It should be simple enough to do but I am looking for a parts list to see if you can buy the parts separately and not part of the larger console.

@NBTBRV8 -- not 100% sure it is that easy, while they look similar, the dash/floor console is not all 100% the same across platform

Stelvio power outlet bezel: 6NL17LXHAA -- Giulia equivalent is 6FS29LXHAA without outlet hole
#23 outlet: 6AL38DX9AA
#22 cap: 68367146AA
#21 outlet: 68367201AA
#24 outlet: 68367161AA

I would expect the console to be different, but from what I can see from photos, the shape of the panel housing the USB/12v scoket "looks" to be the same and for such a small part you'd think it would be universal to save on costs for having two different consoles. I'd need to order one in and compare it. What is item 21, it looks like 23 might go in to 24?

It would be interesting to know if the Stelvio part number for these items is the same as the MY20 Guilia which has the 12v socket fitted.

I am sure the op'er will resist my idea and insult me because it was my idea along with drilling a small hope in upper console for the jack and taping into a power source there but no skin off my back.
Oh, you poor guy...you try so hard, but you just don’t get it. I feel bad for you. As I noted in post #6 above, tapping into the mirror power was the way to go, it’s what I did, and that was more than two years ago. You’re usually several dollars short, but now you’re 590 days late, too.

I did just recently change my detector, though, from Escort 9500ix to Max 360c. Same old mount location:

LOL. Thank you for all the attention. It seems difficult for you to let go and be nice. You seem to lack that ability. I think if you really knew me you'd see otherwise.

For the record, I skipped to post #7 which was the newest, most relevant part of the post, adding 12V similar to the Stelvio. Skipped anything from you as I was not interested in your post as it's irrelevant to post #7. You sure think highly of yourself assuming I was responding to you directly. Your self-ascribed superiority is extremely boorish! You did take the bait though as I knew you would. Anyway, what you think of me is useless. Don't bother replying.

Unfortunately, the 2020 Giulia US parts catalog does not give us the part number for the new power outlet / bezel at this time, that I can see

Sorry

Bumping this back up as I think I unknowingly damaged my USB port in the center panel with a slightly bent up cord plug. Since it's on me, I don't want to try to run this through warranty so I need to get a new USB port or a panel and port. Can someone with access to a part catalog tell me whether the 6FS29LXHAA panel comes with the USB port or is this a separate part and if so the part number? Also curious if the 2020 p/n is available yet? Thanks!!
