I picked up my vehicle less than a month ago, and I'm already seeing a lot of issues. I asked the dealer to update all the software prior to me driving it off the lot since I live 2 hours away, but I don't believe they ever did. Is there a way I can check my software version?

Anyways the issues I've had are as follows:

1) A lot of wind noise coming from the car. I found one of the door seals was loose, and it pushed it back into place. It seems to have fixed most of the noise. It's still a bit noisy but nothing like before. Is this common with sun roofs?

2) I've had static noises coming from my speakers during startup. This started at around 200 miles but doesn't always happen.

3) Door rattles: I get an irritating rattle coming from the passenger side lower front speaker, particularly at highway speeds. I've found that if my passenger places their hand on the speaker screen the rattle stops. I get either a rattle or poor quality/static (not sure which), from the driver side speaker as well, but it only happens when music is playing.

4) The transmission will sometimes jerk the car when shifting. It happens semi-frequently if I give the car gas and then let off and give it gas again.

5) Bad odor: After driving for long periods of time coming to stop sometimes a bad odor fills the car.

Any fixes to the door rattles and rough shifting?

Sorry to hear about all your issues.

It seems that a return trip to the dealership to get some warranty work should be a priority.

Best of luck and keep us posted!!

Thanks

I had the odor issue when it was new, it gradually improved. I hear there is a fix for that now at the dealer, so will have them check it next time, since I have to go back in to update software for some error codes that cause it to stay stuck in N driving mode.

There are a couple threads with discussions of speaker and door rattle problems.

There is an RRT for engine odors getting in the interior. Find the thread and pictures posted by MacGeek showing what the hood looks like after the RRT is completed.

At least one other forum member has complained of wind noise problems. I do not recollect anything about a resolution. The car I test drove had no wind noise at all, although road noise was fairly noticeable. Some people have noted that wind noise becomes appreciable above 80MPH.

My car is on order, due next month so I don't have a car for reference.

Problems 1,2,3,and 5 are dealer fixes. Problem 4 isn't really a problem; mine does the same thing. It's the nature of the 8-speed trans abruptly shifting up-down-up to accommodate what you're doing with the gas pedal. Sometimes the sudden shifts can make the car feel like it's shuddering.

What mode are you driving in, D N or A?

I definitely think a trip back to the dealer is warranted. I have none of these issues and have had my car for three weeks. The shifting issue may just take some getting used to. My prior car was an M4 and it occasionally had similar challenges. The car is essentially trying to predict whether you are driving aggressively or not and also trying to anticipate the gear you will need.

I am 6ft tall and my ear lines up close to the B pillar so check the back door seals. Also my Wind noise wasn't a door seal, it was the chrome finishing strip on the rear door on lower part of the window, it's glued into place, unless mine already came loose at dealer and they glued it. The rear door strip was loose and lifting on mine, I pooped it back into place and noise cured. Will buy some better glue and fix it myself. I hate wind whistles, I can have radio turned up and my brain still chooses to tune into that noise, lol. Maybe this cold be door rattle you have also? All of mine are not really in place properly like a regular cars. I have the static in radio at times also. I have driven a few loaners now and all have a shifting logic that is different from regular cars, no crawl at stops, aggressive shifts, and in dynamic holds gears longer...I think programmers went for a manual transmission feel.

I now have 4000 miles. Brake issue fixed, trim issue, radio static at times, RFT tires like to go flat all the time, can't say I would drive another car so far despite these issues. Enjoying the fun drive.

I still haven't been able to get the car in for service so no useful updates as of yet. I was able to fix the lower right "speaker rattle" by doing some closer investigating. The entire lower panel of the door was loose. I was able to press it back against the door and it snapped back into place- no more rattles. I'm not sure how it came loose but at least that's fixed.

The bad smell has gone away on its own. Whatever was burning off seems to be gone.

The other 3 issues are extremely frustrating. I've called my dealer service department 4 times over 5 days and they keep saying they'll call me back but never do. This is by far the worst service I could imagine.

Additionally the dealer lost my vehicle title and my temporary registration expires in a week. I love the car but couldn't be any more dissatisfied with my dealer. (Jim Ellis Afla in Atlanta, GA).
