I went on a 3,000 mile trip over the thanksgiving week and I had the “service Dampers” message pop up 3 times for a few seconds and went away. It seemed to only do it in hot weather and on rough pavement. Didn’t seem to affect the feel of the car in any way. Anybody had issues with the Adjustable Suspension?

An update. After taking the car to the dealer and them opening a Star case, the problem was resolved by a simple software update to the computer that controls the active dampers.

Real glad it turned out to be an easy fix for you.

Update to the update. So after the software update I noticed something weird. When I just start the car and drive (selector still in N mode), the car feels OK but a little rough riding. Then when I switch the selector to any other mode and back to N, the car feels 10 times better, smooth, controlled, etc. As if the new software program does not kick in until I mess with the mode selector. This will bother me till the end of days.

Oh my gosh. Where are you located? I wonder too sometimes and I think the software needs a bit more testing. It's likely that the sensor levels were set to high for the warnings and the extreme temperatures and use have tripped them too easily. But then it could be more serious so pinning it down is annoying. I recently topped off my oil after I got a low oil light on the center of the dash. It took 600-800ml just to get the level sensor to budge from middle. I was using the dip stick too and could finally see oil on the stick after about 400ml. 800 brought it to about 5/8 stick and reads full on the info screen. Weather hasn't been clear enough to drive it yet but warm up last night seemed fine.

I had something similar and it was an electrical connection below the console somewhere that was not fully seated. Once they connected it solidly, nary a glitch since then. Have them check the electrical systems.

Everyone,
For the benefit of the collective, please include the exact model of your Giulia, and the model year, somewhere in your post or your signature.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Mea culpa, it’s a ‘17 Ti with sport package, adjustable suspension and LSD.

Doh! Me too! Facepalm. ;) Check the connections, or maybe even ecu ribbon plug. They can bind up and get cockeyed so one edge is loose and the pins aren't seated. That happened on my Miata boost harness. 3 plugs all together end to end ;)

This happened to me yesterday afternoon. Backed out of a parking space at work in race mode, the service dampers alert showed up and the car switched into Normal mode and wouldn't let me change to Dynamic or Race. Pulled to the side of the road, put the car in park, and shut it off. Turned it back on and the alert was gone, and I was able to put the car back into Dynamic and Race. I'll be monitoring to see if it was a random occurrence or something that needs to be fixed. A little over 1300 miles on the car and this is the first glitch I've experienced.

I just had the service damper warning come on and was then unable to switch into Race mode. ‘17 QV. Also checked my owners manual and noticed that I have the manual for Stelvio. It doesn’t even list the correct engine. I am going on a road trip through Italy in October so will have this looked at by the dealer and report back.

Service Damper / CDC Error

I'm getting a similar thing happening. '17 Q2 with Sport package. CDC error comes on and the shocks go to full hard (they seem firmer than sport) and the shocks make a groaning sound. Occasionally when the CDC error is displayed I get the message "Service dampers" It is in for the second time for this problem. First time the dealer claimed they found a bad connection in fuse box, and resoldered it. It was ok for about 1000 miles and then started the same thing again. This time it is more intermittent, and doesn't last as long. Also after 1000 miles since oil change I have an error indicating the engine has too much oil. Currently waiting for a new sensor to arrive.

So this popped up twice while driving home from work yesterday. Flashed on for a second or two and went away.

The first post in here mentioned hot weather: having a heat wave in SoCal right now so it is hotter than usual.

I'm leaning towards ignoring it unless it continues to occur. Thoughts on that strategy, anyone? 2018 Q2. Leftover inventory purchased at end of July...I've got about 1,300 miles on it now.

Hi Kingsfan17,

If this continues to occur and you decide to address it with your dealer, please let us know via PM. We would be more than happy to have your situation documented and connect you with a case specialist for an additional layer of assistance during that process. We're just a PM away.

I've had this service dampers light come on in the past in my '17 Giulia Quadrifoglio.
First time was around 8K, at first would come on for a few seconds without affecting driving dynamics and then turn off.
Around 9K it started happening again but this time it would stay on and the dampers would be set to the stiffest setting without being able to change it with the different DNA modes. Took it to the dealer and they flashed the computer.

The issue disappeared for a while, but around 10K returned in the same way light on and dampers at the stiffest setting. This time the dealer did a computer software update.

The issue went away until 11.5K. This time the dealer pinpointed the issue to a loose pin within the cable loom that connects to the computer module, they repinned the connector and I've been driving without issues for a few hundred miles.

Seems like I'm the second one reporting in this forum a service dampers light due to a loose connection.

The car is too fun to let these sort of issues deter me from keeping it, however, I did purchase the Maximum Care MOPAR extended warranty from Clay Robbins as you can see in another thread in this forum.

Will wait for a couple thousand miles and report back.

My 2018 Ti sport performance Q2 exhibited the “service dampers” warning light for the first time last evening. Only occurred very briefly and over a rough section of highway at -70mph. Is the consensus probably loose connector? Or in need of a software update?
