Keeping the hood clean

Given that the underside of the hood has no liner - I'm determined to keep the underside of the hood looking good. I've been doing "rinseless wipedowns" but I'm wondering if I should be treating it with something? While my exterior is ceramic coated, I don't believe the underside of the hood is nor do I know how that would react to the underhood temps.

What's everyone else doing?

If it's lacquered, it's thin and quite matte. Seems unprotected/unlacquered to my untrained eyes.

I used Mothers CMX 2 coats and put it on all my outside black plastic, wipers and windows works great and will last up to a year if taken care of.

Along the same subject, where does the water go that comes through the hood 'nostrils'? I understand that water from rain is going to get in there but should you avoid getting water down in there when washing?

The water from rain and washing goes into hood vents and leaks down the sides of engine and everything is water resistant. So designed for this.

I wiped the inside of my hood down with waterless car wash and then used Top Coat F11. Put on 2 coats.

Along the lines of earlier post in this conversation string mentioning how to treat the exterior black plastic... has anybody had issues with very small spots showing up on the matte black plastic trim around the base of the shifter? This has been happening and not sure how to clean it. I've tried a couple of gentle cleaners with no improvement.

Hi Yes, I used it on my paint and all my carbon fiber with 2 coats. Works great not a full ceramic coat but very close and has been holding up better then the wax I was using. Clean the paint with wax prep then wipe on the Mothers CMX wipe off let sit in dry weather for 24 hours then put on the other coat. It can be used on all paint, plastic and glass. I love it for the black plastic since everything else I used washed off after a few rains here in Miami. Now with the CMX stays looking deep black with a lite matte/shine look. Look up reviews. Now when I wash my car I use McKees 37 Sio2 Auto Wash which works great and keeps the paint coat CMX up and is a gloss enhancer.
